Amanpreet Singh Chhina
Oxford, 05th July 2012{ Mr. Amanpreet Singh Chhina, leader, People’s Party of Punjab condemned the Punjab State governments for not developing long-term policies that provide constant and quality electricity supply in the State enabling its fast economic development. Due to the shortage and poor quality of electricity in Punjab, both agriculture and industry is badly suffering. Appropriate policies are required to fulfil the current and upcoming power consumption needs of the State so that inadequate power generation capacity will not become a hindrance in the economic growth of the State.
He said that today because of inadequate power supply, rural and urban industry is facing heavy economic losses. Besides, contracted labour also have to suffer economic consequences due to power cuts, for most of labour is working in manufacturing units on contractual or performance basis and these power cuts reduce their daily income.
