Ludhiana, 25th September, 2013:(Shalu Arora and Rector Kathuria): M.Sc.(N) 1st year, students of Mental Health (Psychiatric) Nursing, Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, celebrated Alzheimer’s day by putting up an awareness exhibition on the theme “Dementia:A journey of caring” in Medicine OPD of CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana. The poster exhibition covered about the definition, causes, risk factors, sign and symptoms, pathophysiology, stages and management of Dementia.
The programme started by welcoming the gathering followed by prayer. Prof. (Mrs.) Ponnamma R.Singh welcomed the chief guest for the programme, Dr. Kanwal Masih, Medical Superintendent, CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana.
Unfolding of the theme was done by Dr.Triza Jiwan, Head of Mental Health (Psychiatric) nursing and she emphasized on care of individuals living with dementia, their management and treatment in her speech. An educative role play was enacted by the students depicting the care of patients with dementia.
Poster exhibition was inaugurated by the chief guest followed by screening and health education for individuals above 60 years through Mini Mental Status Examination. A good response was received by the audience.
