Special Performance by Special Children in Ludhiana

Over 70 students accompanied by 30 teachers from 9 schools

Students from schools for Special Children in Ludhiana being honoured for their distinguished achievements in studies, sports and other activities.

Ludhiana, February 22, 2014: Bharat Vikas Parishad, Dr. Kitchlu Branch, Ludhiana organised “Cultural Programme by Special Children of  Ludhiana” on Saturday at the  Vocational Rehabilitation and Training Centre (VRTC), Ludhiana.

Over 70 students accompanied by 30 teachers from 9 schools run by different NGOs participated in the function. These children with special needs presented excellent cultural items which mesmerised the audience.

Prof Rajinder Bhandari, Vice-Chairman, Punjab Planning Board, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest of the function. He emphasised that our society must pay extra attention and give due care to these special children. Prof Bhandari lauded the efforts of BVP for this noble service to the society. 
Anil Garg, GM, Ballabh Textile Industries Ltd graced the occasion as Guest of Honour and contributed generously as the main sponsor of the event.

Padam Bassi, President of the BJP Disabled Persons Cell came as a special guest and expressed his views. He being a deaf person, his son translated the speech for the audience. Bassi told that the term “Deaf & Dumb” has now been revised to as “Deaf & Mute” because the new term conveys that the parson’s intellectual ability are functional and have been adequately developed.  
Yash Paul Gupta, National Chairman (Banvasi Sahayata Yojana), BVP New Delhi, presided over the function and gave a detailed account of the mission and programmes of the BVP.

Eleven teachers and 16 students were felicitated for their outstanding achievements in education, sports and other co-curricular activities at the national, state and district levels. All the participating students and their teachers were provided encouragement by giving them suitable prizes. 
N. Mannan,  Project Director, along with other members of the BVP Dr. Kitchlu branch worked hard in making the arrangements for the programme.
