Today was birthday of Sukhdeep Bhatia who died due to rising drug menace. Instead if birthday celebrations all were expressing anguish against drug mafia which took his life and they were also protesting against police which did not take any action against the responsible person(s).All were silent but their silence was speaking and telling loudly that all is not well. All is not happened in a night. This tragic situation has a long hidden story which is full of conspired intentions.
Various organizations of the city gathered and lit the candles out side the Police Station No.8 (Sadar) in support of the demand for justice to the family of the deceased Abhishek Banarjee, Sukhdeep Bhatia, Abhinav and many such youth who became victim of the drugs. People demanded investigation by the police in a professional manner without any pressure. Incidentally today is the birthday of Sukhdeep Bhatia. People condemned the rising drug menace in the state and expressed anguish at that only the victims or small drug paddlers are being caught whereas the big fish goes scot free.
Organisations and people who participated include Mrs.Gurcharn Kaur Kochar – President & Mrs.Jeet Kumar – General Secretary from Punjab Istri Sabha Ludhiana, Dr Arun Mitra – General Secretary Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD), Shri M.S.Bhatia – Organising Secretary Bharat Jan Gyan Vigyan Jatha, Com D P Maur – General Secretary Joint Council of Trade Unions, Shri Keemti Rawal – President Mahatar Sathi Jagriti Manch, Dr Inderjit Dhingra – President – Aqupuncher Association of India, Mrs.Rajinder Kaur Bhatia and Shri Anod Kumar – from Social Thinkers Forum, Com Tersem Jodhan – Ex MLA & Com Jatinder from CITU, Navdeep Jodhan & Gurjit Singh from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Vichar Manch, Mrs.Anita Sharma – Belan Brigade, Raghbir Singh Benipal, Santokh Gill from CPI (M), Com Gurnam Sidhu & Com Yadav –from CPI, Rajidner Raju – Sadbhavna Group, Tilak Singh Samra – PAU Retiree Association, Mrs.Neerja from Sadbhavna, Mrs.Savita Kalra – Spokes Persons of Mahatar Sathi Jagriti Manch, Jagshir Singh Khalwa, Harpreet Kaur Chopra, Surinder Kaur, Bindra Rani, Diljot Kaur, Ranjit Singh along with parents of Sukhdeep Bhatia, Abhishek Banrjee and Abhinav.
In the end Dr. Inderjeet Dhingra cautioned even police personals in serious but politre words that if your conscious still not awakening then you also have to celebrate the birthdays of your sons in same style so act according to your inner voice. Listen your heart.
