NMC's onsite training for doctors of J & K at CMC

National Medical Commission’s (NMC) Nodal Centre for Faculty Development, CMC, Ludhiana is conducting three-day course on revised basic course  workshop (rBCW) in medical education which is mandatory for faculty in medical colleges. Dr. William Bhatti, Director, CMC while inaugurating the program, highlighted need for continuous training for faculty in medical colleges and appreciated the efforts of faculty for attending the training courses for teachers in medical colleges. Dr Jeyaraj D Pandian, Principal, CMC welcome the participants from new colleges of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab for the onsite training and emphasised that for teaching in new competency based MBBS curriculum in India, teachers in medical colleges need this training. He explained the role of CMC Ludhiana as a beacon in medical education in training the faculty of allocated 28 medical colleges in basic course and 66 medical colleges in advance course. Dr. Dinesh Badyal, Convener of NMC nodal centre, CMC informed that Department of medical education faculty is training 3o doctors in team building, principles of learning and competencies, assessment, interactive large group teaching, and AETCOM ( attitude, ethics & communication) module as per new competency based MBBS curriculum introduced in the country in 2019. RBCW has restarted in offline version after a gap of 5 months. The trained teams will conduct rBCW  in 28 medical colleges allocated to Nodal Centre, CMC, Ludhiana under observership of Nodal Centre, CMC. Dr Badyal informed that this course has  now become part of promotion criteria for faculty working in medical colleges.  Dr. Badyal is Member, NMC Task Force  for implementation of new MBBS curriculum. Dr. Anjali Jain, Professor, Department of Anatomy, Co-convener and incharge rBCW informed that the program is being held following strict COVID appropriate behaviour. She added that various activities are being used for innovation in training of teachers who are members of Medical Education Units (MEU) of new medical colleges.  The program resource faculty included Dr Dinesh Badyal, Dr. Anjali Jain, Dr. Bharti Uppal, Dr. Roma Isaac, Dr. Kavita Mandrelle, Dr. Pamela K. Alice, Dr. Aroma Oberoi, Dr. Gagandeep Kwatra, Dr. Maria Thomas, Dr. Christina George, Dr. Clarence Samuel and Dr. Deepshikha Kamra.
