The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in collaboration with Kheti Virasat Mission organized a Media Interaction and Millet Lunch at Ludhiana Club today. In today's era, it was a historic event to find solutions to the problems that our society is facing related to food grains and agriculture, in which very relevant and deep things became the subject of discussion.

The Government of India sponsored the proposal for the International Year of Millets (IYM) 2023, which was approved by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has also expressed his desire to call IYM 2023 a "people's movement" and for India to become a "global hub for millets". This movement is being spearheaded by PIB Chandigarh in the region. He has also organized Millet Lunch for the local media in Tarn Taran and Chandigarh to encourage the media to give more media space to Bajra and its promotion.

Discussing the health problems that have arisen in the present times, the ADG of PIB Chandigarh Mr. Rajendra Chowdhary revealed very interesting facts. He said during the conversation that “due to the adoption of western fast food culture, today's young generation is facing many health-related problems from an early age. Millets can aid in the fight against various health problems. Millets are gluten-free, high in protein, and have a low glycemic index. Thus, they can also help with weight loss.”

"Bajra is beneficial for consumers and farmers as well as for the environment," he added. He continued “Bajra requires less water and electricity to grow. Millets help in fighting against many diseases like obesity, diabetes, anemia, hormonal imbalance, high cholesterol etc., thereby enabling the consumer to lead a healthy life. Consequently, it is an excellent source of balanced nutrients.” The purpose of today's event is to create awareness among the media about millets. As a result, consumption will also increase, which will increase demand.

Special speaker at the event, Mr. Umendra Dutt, Executive Director, Kheti Virasat Mission said: “Bajra is no longer considered a fringe crop. They are in competition with the cyclical cultivation of rice and wheat. Additionally, they reduce our carbon footprint. can reduce." Discussing stubble burning, he said, “Bajra stalk is very good food for cattle.” "Farmers do not burn millet stalks because of their use as cattle feed. This could also be the answer to the issue of stubble burning in Punjab," he said.

Mr. Rasinder Singh, a Bajra farmer from Jagraon also spoke about his experiences on the occasion and said that Bajra is also an integral part of the G-20 meetings and the delegates were invited to taste it, meet farmers and start-ups related to Bajra. The true experience of Bajra will be given through interactive sessions with Dr. He also said, "On the occasion of the International Year of Millets 2023, the government's efforts to give due attention to millets are being rightly noticed, and the present meeting intends to do the same."

Today Shiv Sena Hind announced the Tiranga Yatra against Khalistan in the midst of cold wave and dense fog. Addressing a press conference at his office in Sunny Enclave, he also targeted Gurpatwant Singh Pannu of Sikh for Justice in sharp words.

Shiv Sena Hind chief Nishant Sharma said that Shiv Sena Hind will launch Anti-Khalistan Tiranga Yatra on March 22, the first Navratri of Hindu New Year and Chaitra month, to give a befitting reply to anti-national fundamentalist forces.

This yatra will be taken out from India's capital Delhi to Jammu/Kashmir, the heroic land of martyrdom of Amar Shaheed Shyama Prasad Mukherjee via Haryana Punjab.

He said that anti-national persons and organizations like Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, ISI, Khalistan Liberation Force, Bhindranwala Tiger Force, Hizbul Mujahideen, Sikh for Justice are working to break the unity and integrity of Punjab and to spread hatred among the Hindu-Sikh community. Constantly trying.

In such a situation, this anti-Khalistan Tiranga Yatra will make the fundamentalist forces realize that there is no dearth of those who die for the unity, integrity and brotherhood of the country and Punjab and for the pride of the countrymen, the identity of every Indian. Not a single conspiracy of anti-national forces can be successful despite the presence of patriots.

He said that thousands of Hindu families killed during terrorism should be given proper compensation. Hindu leaders killed in target killing should be given martyr status and their families should be given gas agency and petrol pump.

Sharma said that the cases going on in the courts against the gangsters, miscreants, terrorists should be tried in the fast track courts and their hearing should be done through video conference in the court.

Along with this, bulldozers should be used to demolish the illegal properties of gangsters made with crores of rupees extorted from people by looting and intimidation.

A special meeting of Shiv Sena Hind was organized under the chairmanship of Gautam Sharma, National President of Shiv Sena Hind Student Wing. Party's National President Nishant Sharma specially reached on this occasion.

National Senior Vice President Parvinder Bhatti, Punjab Head Gurpreet Singh Laddi, Punjab Head Legal Cell Advocate Ketan Sharma, National Spokesperson Keerat Singh Mohali, Media Advisor Rajinder Dhariwal, Punjab Vice President Manoj Sharma, SC Wing Punjab Head Rajkumar Bhatti were also present on the occasion.

Giving information on this occasion, Nishant Sharma said that while Gaurav Aggarwal is another big industrialist, he is also a social worker. Shiv Sena Hind under his leadership will soon organize a huge meeting of industrialists at Mandi Gobindgarh. In this meeting, after listening to the problems of the industrialists, Shiv Sena Hind will cooperate shoulder to shoulder in getting them resolved. He said that we will not tolerate any kind of injustice to any industrialist.

On the same occasion, he made a new announcement to further strengthen his hold on trade and industry. He informed the media about the inclusion of famous industrialist Gaurav Agarwal in Shiv Sena Hind and made him the Punjab head of the industry cell. Along with this, Karan Arora was made the head of the Punjab Business Board.

He said that the Anti-Khalistan Tiranga Yatra has a resolution that despite the presence of Shiv Sena Hind in Punjab, Khalistan will not be allowed to be formed even on an inch of Punjab's land. During terrorism, the police officers who eliminated terrorism without caring for their lives, the cases against such officers should be withdrawn and they should be released immediately and the families of the martyred police officers should be given compensation.

It was announced in the press conference that there will be a huge meeting of Shiv Sena Hind Industry Cell in Mandi Gobindgarh which will create a new history. Hundreds of industrialists will participate in this convention to be held at Mandi Gobindgarh. Gaurav Aggarwal, who was present on the occasion, also said that he will stand shoulder to shoulder with the industrialists.

It is believed to be the present age, which is full of conflict and sin. The "Kali" of Kali Yuga means "strife", "discord", "quarrel", or "contention" and Kali Yuga is associated with the demon Kali (not to be confused with the goddess Kali).According to Puranic sources, Krishna's death marked the end of Dvapara Yuga and the start of Kali Yuga, which is dated to 17/18 February 3102 BCE. Lasting for 432,000 years (1,200 divine years), Kali Yuga began 5,123 years ago and has 426,877 years left as of 2022 CE. Kali Yuga will end in the year 428,899 CE. 

Even in this KaliYuga, till now such a species is present on this earth which is known for loyalty. Known for her trust. In ancient times they were called dervesh. Businessmen also live in profit and the government also earns a lot in the name of registration. To further increase this whole trend, a show was also organized by Veterinary University (GADVASU).

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana organized a "Dog Show". Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU said that the importance of pets is increasing with the rise in nuclear families and this exhibition presented a chance for all stakeholders to discuss various issues related to the welfare of pet animals. The event was also important since this year has been recognized as 'World Veterinary Year'. The Dog Show began with the inaugural session, where Dr. Kamal Kumar Garg, IAS, chief guest inaugurated the show. He spoke about the importance of dogs as pets of choice owing to their co-evolution with society. He expressed his conviction that the dog show would be a valuable platform in promoting canine reproduction, health and societal well-being.

Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University was the Chief Guest during the 'Valedictory Function'. Dr. Gosal said that dogs have proved their vitality and worth over the hundreds of years of their co-existence with human society. He said that the show was a great opportunity for pet owners to interact with veterinarians and industry. He lauded the significant progress made by GADVASU in promoting animal health and welfare in the state. Dr. H S Banga, Registrar of the University said that such events help to demonstrate the strong bond and companionship between humans and pet animals. Dr. Ashwani Kumar, HoD Veterinary Medicine briefed about the dog show. Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director of Extension Education presented the vote of thanks. The exhibition of different breeds of dogs would create awareness regarding their importance in different spheres of our lives.

Dr Dhiraj Gupta, Organising Secretary informed that a skill show by the dog squad of the Home Guards was also arranged. Breed competitions were held across eight categories of dogs including Toy, Terrier, Utility, Hound, Gun dog, Working, Pastoral and Miscellaneous groups where more than 125 owners showcased their dogs. 

Sh. Ashvinder Singh, Major Amarjit Bath were honored for the service of stray dogs. GADVASU established a dialysis unit in the recent past. The dogs affected with renal problems were treated here and after survival leading a healthy life, also honored. A large number of breeders exhibited different breeds of dogs, cats and birds at the venue. An exhibition of feed and health supplements, grooming kits, bedding and other accessories was also held by the industry. All the officers of GADVASU, Faculty members, employees and a large number of dog lovers graced the occasion.

Dr Jeyaraj D Pandian is the new President Elect of WSO

Dr Jeyaraj D Pandian is the Principal of CMC Ludhiana

Dr Jeyaraj D Pandian, Principal, Christian Medical College, Ludhiana has been selected as the President Elect (2022-2024) and President (2024 to 2026) of World Stroke Organisation (WSO). He is the first Neurologist from Asia to be appointed to this highly influential position. He took over this post on October 28th at the World Stroke Congress which was held in Singapore. Dr Pandian has been in the WSO Board since 2008 and completed 4 years as Vice-President of WSO from 2018.

World Stroke Organisation is the one voice for stroke. The WSO mission is to reduce the global burden of stroke through more effective prevention, better treatment, and long-term support. The headquarters is in Geneva and WSO has more than 3500 members from across the globe. WSO works closely with World Health Organisation (WHO) in influencing health policies related to stroke treatment and prevention. 

Dr Pandian stated that stroke or brain attack is the one of the leading causes of death and disability in India. Each year 1.8 million new stroke cases occur in the country and every 40 seconds one Indian suffers a stroke. One stroke death occurs every 4 minutes in the nation. Stroke is a preventable and treatable disease. High blood pressure is the main cause for stroke. 

Dr Pandian’s vision and mission for the next 4 years is to implement stroke units across India and in Asian and African countries. He has been involved in the development of stroke units in district government and the Medical College hospitals in Punjab since 2016. Recently on November 1st along with WSO and NABH he launched the stroke centre certification program for India in New Delhi. CMC Ludhiana is the first stroke centre in India to go through the assessment process. He said that this will pave way for delivering high quality health care to stroke patients in the country.

Dr Pandian is being involved with WHO Southeast Regional Office New Delhi in implementing stroke care services in Bhutan, Myanmar, Timor Leste, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Nepal. He plans to expand to other WHO Regions in the world.

CMC Ludhiana stroke program is the only center in northwest region to offer highly effective treatment like clot retrieval using stents in blocked arteries (thrombectomy) in the brain. Dr Vivek Aggarwal, Neurointerventionist said that over the last 4 years more than 800 procedures have been done at CMC. He added that the public should be aware about the stroke warning symptoms. Patients present with sudden numbness, paralysis, in one side of the body: sudden trouble speaking, sudden headache, giddiness and unconsciousness. Dr Rajeswar, Associate Professor of Neurology mentioned that patients and relatives should reach CMC quickly to avail the clot bursting injection (0-4.5 hrs) and thrombectomy (0-24hrs). 

Dr Loganathan, Rehabilitation physician at CMC said that a new rehabilitation center has been started last month to cater to the stroke patient’s recovery following a stroke. Dr Dorcas Gandhi, Professor of Physiotherapy mentioned that it is very important for stroke patients to undergo regular physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy which will speed up the recovery process. There are low-cost robotic technology available at CMC Stroke program for rehabilitation of stroke patients. 

Dr William Bhatti, Director, CMCH lauded the achievements of Dr Pandian and his team. He stated that CMC Stroke program has all the modern facilities to treat stroke patients in the region.

Vigilance Bureau arrests its own Inspector

Inspector Amolak Singh arrested for accepting bribe Rs 5,000

Chandigarh: 1st November 2022: (Punjab Screen Bureau)::

Aiming to eradicate corruption in the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign on Tuesday arrested an Inspector of police Amolak Singh posted at Bureau range office Amritsar for accepting a bribe of Rs 5000.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the VB said the accused Vigilance Inspector has been arrested on the complaint of Prabhmesh Mohan resident of New Mohindra Colony, Amritsar.

He further informed that the complainant has uploaded a video on online complaint number alleging that he and his wife, who is an employee in MC Amritsar, were arrested by the Bureau in a corruption case in 2021 and court has granted bail to them.

The complainant further alleged that Amolak Singh, being investigation officer of this case, was demanding Rs 5000 as a bribe from him to record his voice as a sample in their case. To keep it as evidence the complainant has recorded this conversation on his phone and handed it
over to the VB also.

After verification of the facts in the complaint and the material evidence, the VB has arrested the above mentioned Inspector for accepting  bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant.

In this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused police official at VB flying squad-1 Punjab, police station SAS Nagar and further investigation is under progress.

The Second Dr F C Eggleston memorial oration

Oration was held at CMC Hospital Ludhiana

The Second Dr F C Eggleston memorial oration was organized jointly by CTVS department and general surgery of CMC and Hospital Ludhiana on 29th October 2022. 

Dr. FC Eggleston was the founder of General Surgery Department at CMC Ludhiana. He was the founder president of the North zone chapter of surgeons in India. He was the missionary from Presbyterian Church from the USA. He trained more than 110 post graduates in surgery. 

His students are serving throughout the globe with tremendous health care services especially to the poorest of the poor. Eggleston received the Woodrow Wilson award from Princeton University in 2000 His work and experiences are summarised in his book Christian Medical College, Ludhiana: A 33 Year Experience 1953-1986 : a Personal Perspective 

He died at the age of 90. His students around the globe formed a trust in his loving memory. This year Dr. Bashi V. Velayudhan was the chief orator for this oration. Dr. William Bhatti, director CMC Ludhiana gave the keynote address. Dr. Navneet K Choudhary, secretary of the trust welcomed all the delegates and highlighted the compassionate and disciplined health education by his mentor 'THE BOSS' (Dr. FC Eggleston). Dr. Allen Joseph, medical superintendent and organizing chairmen introduced all the speakers.

Eggleston is an alumnus of Princeton University, and passed his MD in 1945 from Cornell University Medical College. He then trained first in general surgery and then in cardio-thoracic surgery. He worked in different hospitals in New York till December 1953 and then moved to India. Saturday 

He moved to India to work as a missionary training doctors in the field of surgery.He was the director of Christian Medical College and Hospital from 1982 to 1986. He first worked in a small town in Himachal for a few years. Then he moved to Christian Medical College, Ludhiana as the head of surgery department and spent the rest of his 33 years in India over there. Ludhiana was a small town in those days. He developed the department of general surgery and cardio-thoracic surgery and trained 101 surgeons.

Eggleston was the founder president of the Northern Chapter of Association of surgeons of India. Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, India, has dedicated a library to his name:

Dr Eggleston died on Nov 7, 2016 in a retirement home in Mechanicsbergh.
