Walkathon for a Healthy Smile

 Children’s Day Celebrated by CDC Ludhiana

On the occasion of Children’s Day department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry of Christian Dental College organized a Walkathon for spreading awareness regarding Childhood Oral health diseases and prevention.  About 120 dental health care professionals and students took part in the event commencing at 06:30 am from Rakh Bagh to CMC Campus.    Dr. William Bhatti, Director CMC Ludhiana flagged off the event.  Shri Pardeep Kumar Sabbarwal, Municipal Commissioner was the Chief Guest of the occasion.  Through this walkathon Christian Dental College faculty and students conveyed the message of prevention of dental diseases for a healthy smile with early check-up and doing preventive and interceptive measures.  

On this occasion at the Pediatric Dentistry department Children’s Day was celebrated with the children of Morning Star School, Nur Manzil.  Through the next two week there is a special campaign ‘Bright future smile’ to endorse better oral health practices in children.  Dr. William Bhatti Director appreciated the efforts of the department in bringing community awareness regarding burden of childhood dental diseases.  Dr.  Abi M. Thomas, Principal CDC.

I still remember that during 20216 CMC institute has nas an old association with children day and kids too. Nearly 30 children having undergone open heart surgery at the Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) were invited to celebrate the Children’s Day. These kids expressed their gratitude to the doctors, staff and ‘Have a Heart’ foundation and its president Balbir Kumar.

Balbir Kumar was felicitated at the function for helping the children to undergo the surgery through his foundation. The president and trustees of the foundation assured constant support in future too for treatment of cardiac patients with financial and moral support.

While speaking on the occasion, Dr Abraham G Thomas, Director CMCH, reinforced the commitment to serve the sick and the needy with compassion and care. Dr Allen Joseph, Professor and Head of the Department, honoured the CMCH Director and extended warm welcome to the faculty and trustees of ‘Have a Heart” and all heart patients.

Dr Christopher Roy, Senior Consultant and Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon, made a presentation on problems of cardiac disease in India.

Dr Namrata Gaur, Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, who conducted the show spoke about the mission of the CMCH to provide services in far flung and remote areas of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir along with all north-west India.

The CMCH Medical superintendent Dr William Bhatti, pediatricians, cardiologists, surgeons and many senior faculty members attended the programme and keenly participated in celebrating little hearts.

Remembering last year 2020 event related to children day it was under the shadow of Covid-19. A terror of Corona was every where but CMC was aware and remained dedicated to the welfare of society.

Food Drive Brings Shower of Smiles

When people are dying because of hunger, pandemic and Lockdown. There are some beautiful souls who would came out to share their love, happiness and Food. A small act of kindness matters a lot. 
In a bid to bring smiles on the faces of the less fortunate, Khaanaleia  and Robin Hood Army today organised a Food Drive at the slums on Ludhiana-Delhi Road. Khaanaleia provided the food which comprised of pav bhaaji, cake, cold drinks and chocolates.

Almost 130 children from 45 families were served. Khaanaleia is a fledgling organisation started by two friends Monaa Chadha and Akshi Khanna. The organisation came up during the stressed corona pandemic last year with a goal to make creative and hygienic foods, just like food cooked at home, accessible to their customers at affordable prices. A home delivery concept, Khaanaleia was also set up to give the stressed home maker a break from monotonous cooking. Their menu comprises of all kinds of cuisines ranging from Indian, continental, Thai, Italian, American, Chinese, Japanese, French to jams, sauces, pickles, cakes and other desserts. 

The Robin Hood Army is a zero-funds volunteer organization that works to get surplus food from restaurants and communities to serve the less fortunate. “Robins” are largely students and young working professionals – everyone does this in their free time. The lesser fortunate sections of society they serve include homeless families, orphanages, patients from public hospitals and old age homes.

Dental check-up camp in collaboration with ‘Shiksha Uday’

Oliver House, Preschool and Daycare, at Shaheed  Bhagat Singh Nagar, organised a Dental check-up camp in collaboration with charity ‘Shiksha Uday’ in school on Parents Teacher meeting. During the camp, children went through a complete Dental Check up. Important tips and precautionary measures for common Dental problems  were also recommended to the parents by the expert team of doctors Dr Amneet Guided parents about brushing technique and harmful effects of fluoride based toothpaste on the teeth of children
Oliver House Director, Priyanka Chawla, said ‘At Oliver House we promote physical development and nutrition in partnership with the parents.. The seeds of any good habits need to be sown from childhood. Oral health is no different. Care should be started even before the first tooth erupts
Oliver House, Preschool and Daycare, organised this camp to promote dental health among children and to create awareness among the parents offering practical tips and expert advice and tips on dental care of their child.

Take a pledge on Navratras

As we know that Navratras are going on, on one one side we worship KANJAKS, but on the other side, the rate of female infanticide is growing in our country especially when women are scaling new heights everyday and increasingly becoming a part of all the professional arenas.
So, to create awareness against female infanticide, to disseminate the message throughout the city against this social evil I, Jyotsana Dhingra with few of my friends(Teena, Diksha, Ramesh, Didar Singh, Raman saini, Raman Sharma, Satnam Singh, Atul) conducted a rally in village Krishna Nagar, Hambran Road with the permission of the Sarpanch Mrs. Narinder Kaur. Along with her, Mr. Jarnail Singh Mintu and worker of the village Amninder Kaur helped us with full enthusiasm and spirit and made the event successful. In the rally small children of the village also participated.
Sarpanch of the village also gave biscuits and tea to all the persons who participated in the rally.

Battle of Dance by Health and Creative Club attracting, preparing and presenting children with their art skill. Semifinal took place on 1st June and now all eyes on Grand Finale which is scheduled in Nehru Sidhant kendra on 15th June 2014. Semi final held under the dynamic leadership of Shanu Sharma.
First season was glorified by Deepak Raja-A famous standup comedian of silver screen. This season bunch of eminent people like Sudhama Menz (Assistant of Saroj Khan), Rak Kc (Choreographer of Punjabi Movie) and Shri Kant (Assistant of Master Remo) participated as judges of the show. Semi final judges were Miss Vibha (DAV School), Ruchi Kamboj (DAV School), Raj Kumar (BVM School), Mr. Hiten (Satpal Mittal school) and Mr. Sam(ryan International school).
Children from DAV public school, KVM public school, Samrock school and Ryan International school participated in the show. Winner will be awarded Rs 51,000/- in Grand Finale.
