Ludhiana: 3 April 2014:(Surjeet Singh//Punjab Screen):
In protest of non-receipt of salary grant since May 2013, the Principals of private aided colleges have decided to support the boycott call given by Punjab and Chandigarh Colleges Teaching Union (PCCTU).
According to Principal Dr. S.S. Deol, General Secretary
of the Association of Principals of the colleges affiliated to PU, Chandigarh,
the aided colleges are not receiving salary grants from the Punjab Govt. since
May 2013 and the most of the colleges are unable to pay the salary for last 4 –
6 months. Along with the teachers and the non-teaching staff of the colleges
are also without salary for last so many months. Dr. Deol said that in the
light of no action on the part of DPI (C), running the colleges is becoming
increasingly difficult and we are left with no option but to join agitation.
