PAU Alumni Mark Presence at Reunion

As the old students from the 1985 and 1986 batches of Forestry, College of Agriculture celebrated the alumni reunion; the event saw students from diverse areas coming together for a toast to the old memories and promises of keeping in touch in future.

As a special honour to Real Estate and Mortgage Consultant, Balwinder Singh, who came all the way from Surrey, Canada, to attend the meet, the Communication Centre presented him with PAU souvenirs and other memorabilia. Dr Tejinder Singh Riar, Additional Director of Communication and an ex-student of forestry from the same batch shared the integral role played by PAU in connecting alumni from different batches and backgrounds and fostering a spirit of camaraderie and collaboration.

 In his welcome address, Dr Rishi Indra Singh Gill, Estate Officer, PAU, emphasized strengthening the bond between all ex-students and the need to play a vital role in the prime positioning of the university. The technical session included a discussion about agroforestry followed by a walk on the college campus.

Among those present were ex-students Satnam Singh IFS, Conservator Forest, Parvinder Jamwal, Chief Manager PNB, Mr Baljinder Singh and Gurwinder Singh from MNCs, Mr Tejwant Singh from GNDU Amritsar along with alumni Dr Baljit, Dr Ravinder, Dr GPS Dhillon, Dr Rishi Gill, Dr Ramandeep Singh, working as faculty of PAU.

PAU Scientists visit Telangana to study water conservation

Visit is a follow-up of CM Bahgwant Mann’s visit to Telangana

Underscoring the need to combat the challenge of depleting water resources in Punjab, a three-member team of scientists of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is on a visit to Telangana to study various initiatives taken by the Telangana government for water conservation and irrigation water management. Scientists comprising Dr Manmohanjit Singh, Director, Regional Research Station, Ballowal Saunkhri; Dr Sanjay Satpute, Scientist, Soil and Water Engineering, and Dr Abrar Yousuf, Scientist, Soil and Water Engineering, Ballowal Saunkhri, PAU, are on a tour to Telangana under the directions and stewardship of Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU. It is pertinent to mention that the visit is a follow-up of Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Bahgwant Mann’s visit to Telangana and being coordinated by Dr HS Sidhu, Dean, College of Agriculture Engineering and Technology, PAU.

Mr Sridhar Rao Deshpande, Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister of Telangana, welcomed the PAU delegation. The PAU scientists visited various locations of lift irrigation and renovated interlinked irrigation tanks developed by the Irrigation Department under Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project and Mission Kakatiya. Besides, the impact of these projects on groundwater recharge was also shown. The team was accompanied by Mr Hari Ram
, Chief Engineer; Dr Pandit, Director Groundwater Board and other officials of the Irrigation Department. The PAU team also visited Komati Cheruvu tank, Peddarayan Cheruvu tank, Pandavula Cheruvu tank, Oora Cheruvu tank, Check dams of Kudleruvagu and Kondapochamma Sagar in Siddipet district. Check dams in Nijalapur, Kommreddypally and other MI tanks in nearby areas of district Mahabubnagar were also shown.

Later, a special meeting was organized with Dr Rajat Kumar, Special Chief Secretary, Irrigation and CAD, Telangana; and Mr C Muralidhar, Engineer in Chief, Telangana regarding water conservation initiatives taken by the Telangana government and the possibility of replicating these initiatives in Punjab.

On 28th February 2023, a general body meeting has been held in the basement of Block C of CHB at 1:00 PM to elect the office bearers of the Chandigarh Housing Board Employees Co-ordination Committee and office bearers have been elected unanimously. Chairman Sukhpreet Singh, Vice Chairman Anand Gupta, President Pawan Kumar Chauhan, Senior Vice President Brij Pal, Vice President Raj Kumar, Convener Jarnail Singh, Co-convener Manjit Singh and Sarabjit Singh, General Secretary Surinder Singh, Joint Secretary Salinder Kumar, Press Secretary Mohinder Singh Rana, Propoganda Secretary Rakesh Kumar, Cashier Satwinder Bains and Auditor Naveen Kumar.
