Sanjivani Expert Group appeals peoples to follow SMS

 Administration is fully prepared to tackle the 2nd wave of Covid

Terming the second wave is more intense than the earlier one, the Sanjivani expert panel, a team of the specialized doctors constituted in collaboration with the Ludhiana administration, asked the people to follow the SMS (social distancing, Mask and Sanitization) principle in their routine life to contain fresh Covid in Punjab.
In a special Facebook live session on official page of District Public Relations Office Ludhiana regarding COVID-19 by Dr Bishav Mohan and Dr Rajesh Mahajan from DMCH, Dr Mary John from CMCH and District Immunization Officer Dr Kiran Gill and ADC (General) Amarjit Bains, said that the administration is fully prepared to beat the second wave of novel coronavirus if it hits the state in the coming days.
They added that we have acquired a lot of knowledge from the first wave of the deadly virus, we are in a better position to deal with the virus as we have now strengthened health infrastructure, manpower, improved ICU care facilities, and availabilities of ventilators, oxygen, and others here but people have to give their wholeheartedly support to the administration.
They said that people need to be cautious and must contact the doctor immediately in case of flu-like symptoms to ensure timely treatment to the potential Covid patient. Further, they appealed all the eligible to get vaccine immediately to prevent the spread of the pathogen by breaking transmission of the virus.
They disclosed that special emphasis is being laid to ensure dedicated ICU facilities for level-III patients by sharing best medical practices learnt from the first wave among the doctors of government and private hospitals.

Dr. P N Dwivedi retires from the Vet Varsity

 He served more than 34 years in the field of veterinary sciences

After serving more than 34 years in the field of veterinary sciences Dr. Padma Nath Dwivedi retired from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana after attaining the age of superannuation. A farewell function was arranged by GADVASU Teachers' Association in the honour of Dr. Dwivedi. On this occasion Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU appreciated the services of Dr. Dwivedi. He said that Dr. Dwivedi contributed a lot as virologist in the field of veterinary microbiology. His research, academic and administrative achievements were discussed and acknowledged in the farewell function. Faculty members extended their warm wishes on his retirement.

Dr. Dwivedi, born on 8 Feb, 1961 in a middle class family at Distt. Rewa (MP). He obtained his BVSC & AH, MVSc and Ph.D degrees from Jabalpur Univ, PAU and University of London, respectively. He joined PAU as Asstt Prof in 1986 and elevated as Assoc Prof in 1998 and Professor in 2006. He joined as Head of the Department in Dairy Microbiology in August 2018. He served both the Universities for more than 34 years. He has guided 14 MVSc and 3 Ph. D. Students in Veterinary Virology. He is recipient of several awards and fellowships including prestigious DAAD Fellowship, Commonwealth Scholarship etc. He has published more than 125 research papers in various national and international journals.

During his tenure he was also the President of University Dance Drama and Music club, Incharge Speakers' Forum, Incharge University sports, Associate NCC officer as well as Chief hostel warden.He has been in the panel of judges for long years in the youth festivals of PU Chandigarh, GNDU Amritsar, PU Patiala and many more for the judgement and evaluation of co-curricular activities. He is loved by his students, friends and colleagues.

In the farewell function Dr. Deepti Narang, HoD Veterinary Microbiology revealed his professional journey. Dr. APS Brar, described his interesting life incidents. Dr. Shashi Mahajan, General Secretary, GADVASUTA managed all the stage activities whereas Dr.  Ashwani Sharma, President GADVASUTA extended vote of thanks to the august gathering.
