Flaunting with degrees in hands and faces
brightened with luminous smiles, the students were on cloud nine during the 14th
Annual convocation of Partap College of Education, Ludhiana held on March 1st,
2015. The event was graced by Prof.
Margery McMahon, University of Glasgow as the Chief Guest and Prof. Ken Jones, senior
consultant for CPLD, University of Wales as guest of honour. The Academic Procession was led by the Chief
Guest Prof. Margery McMahon, Guest of Honour, Prof. Ken Jones, Principal Dr. Balwant Singh, Chairman,
Prof. J.P. Singh, Secretary, Dr. Ramesh
Inder Bal and Mrs. Manpreet Kaur, Vice Principal and ceremoniously proceeded to
the auditorium.
The event started with
a cordial welcome address delivered by Mrs. Manpreet Kaur, which was followed
by Saraswati Vandana. After this, Dr. Balwant Singh, principal took over the
stage and read out the annual report of
the college, highlighting the academic and cultural achievements during the
session 2013-14. He also acquainted
one and all with the profile, high success rate of placement cell run by the
college, student exchange programmes under MOU with Denmark, International
Collaborations and tie-ups with some of the prestigious universities and
associations of the globe.
Then, Prof. Margery
McMahon, delivered her convocation address in which she emphasize the
importance of career long professional learning through collaborations and
networking to influence change and innovation in the profession and education
system. Being the educated and informed voice, they must be aware of their
professional responsibility and commitment
and use education to improve the quality of education and life through
education.
After this Dr. Balwant Singh and Prof. Margery
McMahon, conferred degrees to 29 M.Ed. and 160 B.Ed. students dressed in robes.
Ms. Jasmeet Kaur of M.Ed. and Ms. Isha Tiwari of B.Ed. were awarded with Roll
of Honour for standing first in the college in M.Ed. and B.Ed. Panjab
University, Chandigarh, annual examination 2014 respectively. Medals and honours were also bestowed upon
the deserving scholars of the college for their illustrative contributions
towards scholastic pursuits and extraordinary cultural achievements.
Ms. Jasmeet Kaur, Ms. Muskan and Mrs. Poonam Bala from
M.Ed. and Ms. Isha Tiwari, Ms. Megha Sharma and Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur Cheema from
B.Ed. were also honoured on this occasion for standing 1st, 2nd
and 3rd in the college respectively.
After this, Prof. Ken
Jones addressed the gathering and applauded the academic and non-academic
pursuits taken up by Partap College of Education. He also congratulated the
degree holders, faculty and authorities of the college for their tireless
efforts in initiating a new era of excellence and innovation in teaching
profession through continuous professional learning, critical and intellectual
attitude and high professional ethics.
The Convocation Ceremony concluded with formal induction
of all degree holders and vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Manpreet Kaur, who
advised the degree holders to make best use of their knowledge, skills, values
and attitude learnt at Partap College of Education. As the day came to an end,
Partap College of Education bid adieu to yet another batch of brilliant minds
