Poet Prof. Kapoor’s Book Launched at SCD Govt College

A profound anthology of poems titled Sallies of Surreal Shades by Prof. Ashok Kapoor, an 80-year-old alumnus of SCD Government College, was released on campus today. The event brought together his former classmates, students, and faculty.

Principal Gursharanjit Singh Sandhu highlighted the college’s pride in alumni like Prof. Kapoor, whose work inspires current students. Distinguished attendees included alumni Prof. Sagar Chand Jain, Harish Kaura, Manjula Jain, Prof. Rajinder Jain, Navdeep Singh, O.P. Verma, Manpreet Singh, Prof. Vijay Asdhir, and Brij Bhushan Goyal, Organizing Secretary of the Alumni Association.

Faculty members such as Prof. Amita Thamman (HOD, PG English), Prof. Harmit Kaur, Prof. Preeti, Prof. Gurjit, Prof. Atinder Pandey, Prof. Suraj Kumar, Prof. Sarika, and Prof. Geetanjli Pabreja also marked their presence.

Dr. Satish K. Kapoor, former British Council Scholar and author of the book’s foreword, praised Prof. Kapoor’s poetry for its energy and its ability to connect readers with nature and inner awakening. Prof. Kapoor recited his poem Memories of College Days and donated ₹20,000 for purchasing competition books for students.

Brij Bhushan Goyal emphasized the learning students can gain from Prof. Kapoor’s creative work, while Prof. P.K. Sharma stressed the importance of blending generations in celebrating creativity.

The ceremony was a vibrant tribute to literary passion and alumni contribution.

Women's Day:Punjab Police Orgnises Medical Camps

Punjab Police under the banner of SAANJH on Tuesday organised several activities including awareness talks on cancer, general health and menstrual hygiene and medical and health check-up camps for women including women Police Personnel in all the districts to culminate the week-long celebrations to mark the International Women's Day.

 

A webinar on Cancer Awareness was also organised at Punjab Police Headquarters here in which a Radiation Oncologist Dr. Rupali Aggarwal from Grecian Super Specialty Hospital sensitised Women Police Personnel about symptoms of breast cancer and how to prevent them by intaking nutritious food.

 

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab VK Bhawra while appreciating all the CPs/SSPs for celebrating this special day dedicated to women in such a unique way said CPs/SSPs have been organizing various activities for all the women in their respective districts focusing on Women Health and Women Education for Empowerment and on the available facilities in Punjab police for reporting crimes and women.

 

He said that in some districts CPs/SSPs have also organised a Special Rahat Camp to deal with women related complaints and several complaints were disposed off at the spot.

 

Divulging more details, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Community Affairs Division and Crime against Women & Children, V Neeraja said that all the district police have celebrated this day with enthusiasm and fervor by reaching out women from all walks of lives and sensitized them on the facilities available in Punjab Police for preventing and reporting crimes against women.

 

She said that Women Help desks in 382 police stations starting from today for the next 3 days shall conduct programs to sensitize women on the provisions of law for protection of women and facilities in Punjab police for reporting crimes against women.

 

Similarly, SAANJH, the Community policing wing of the Punjab Police also organized many events in coordination with NGOs , prominent public persons to celebrate International Women's Day in Colleges and private institutions.

 

Besides, cultural events were also organized by the district police for the women police personnel as part of the celebrations.

'Athve Rang Di Talaash' released by the Language Deptt.

Book is  Jaspreet Falak's Punjabi poetry collection

Famous Hindi poetess Jaspreet Kaur Falak's new Punjabi poetry collection 'Athwen Rang Di Talaash' was launched by the Bhasha Vibhag, Punjab, in the grand 'farewell ceremony' of 'Punjabi Maah', The book was released by the chief guest, Shiromani Punjabi critic Dr. Jaswinder Singh,  Dr. Surjeet Lia, special guest Shiromani Punjabi litterateur Ninder Ghunhiyanvi and many prominent signatures of Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu literature.  The Director of the Bhasha Vibhag, Mrs. Karamjit Kaur, praised Jaspreet Kaur Falak for her creative achievement and motivated her to remain creative in future.  Jaspreet Kaur Falak described this moment as an unforgettable moment of her life.  Noted Punjabi singer Amar Noori was specially present at the function.  Apart from this, many eminent litterateurs and literature lovers including famous litterateurs Omprakash Gaso, Deepak Jalandhari, Sardar Panchi, Satnam Singh, Veerpal Kaur etc. were present on this occasion.

After the huge success of her first book "Tune Into the World of Radio", Mrs. Sonia Pahwa, Assistant Professor, Government College For Girls, Ludhiana, today released her second book and the name of the book is "Keemti Jazbaat." Releasing the book, Assistant Professor Sonia Pahwa said that she wanted to convey her feelings to the people for a long time. Through this book, she has presented her precious feelings to the people in the form of shayari  and hoped that like the first book, this book will also get the love of the people. In this book, readers will find poetry related to all kinds of emotions. The book can be found on Amazon, Flipkart, etc.

Releasing the book, Dr. Sukhwinder Kaur, Principal, Government College For Girls, Ludhiana Congratulated Madam Sonia Pahwa and said that it is a matter of great pride for the institution. While releasing the book, Dr. Sukhwinder kaur said that the poetry is presented in a very beautiful way and added that she is not excelling only in her field but performing extremely well in every field.  It is a great honor for the college and all the staff.  Mrs. Kirpal Kaur (Vice Principal), Mrs. Gurjinder Brar (Head English Department) and other staff members were present at the release of the book.
