Farewell Party of KCW, Commerce Department

An exuberant Farewell was accorded to B.Com and M.com Final Year students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana. True Spirit of Womanhood was on display in the function as it coincided with the International Women’s Day. The girls of the Commerce Department presented the vivid colors of India through regional dances including Lavani, Gujarati, Bharat Natayam, Sufi Dance and Ganesh Vandana. Modeling Rounds for the out going classes were also conducted. Radhika was adjudged Miss Farewell B.Com. Tanavpreet and Jyoti were declared Ist and IInd Runners Up respectively. Taranpreet was crowned Miss Farewell M.Com. The excitement of leaving college and entereing into a new face of life was visible on the faces of all the students. Principal of the College Dr. (Mrs.) Varinder Kaur Thind applauded the efforts of the students and the teachers and wished the outgoing classes the best in their lives. She also encouraged the students to work hard for the coming final exams and strive for university positions.

NCC Activity ‘Run for Fun’

Ludhiana: 29 November 2013: (Punjab Screen Bureau): Running not only stimulates the muscles but also helps in recuperating the shrinking energy levels due to our hectic schedules. Keeping this in mind Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines Ludhaina encouraged their young and energetic NCC Cadets to put their best foot forward and jog on the vestige situated between the lush green lawns of the Nehru Rose Garden, Ludhiana. The event ‘fun for run’ organinzed by KCW, Ldh in collaboration with 3 Punjab Girls Bn., NCC took place today on 29st November 2013 at 09:00 a.m in the morning. The motive behind this activity was to provide cadets with an enjoyable and memorable eco-friendly moments and opportunity to celebrate NCC Week with their teachers.
Cadets not only loved their company in the lap of nature but also learned the discipline of following the traffic rules while running on one of the busiest routes between the rose garden to the college located in the heart of the city. 
The Run for Fun synchronized the latent qualities of the cadets with their exuberance while blending the creativity and enthusiasm for non-traditional fun run that combined the exercise of running and fun-filled activities along the race route.  
Dr. (Mrs.) Varinder Kaur Thind, Principal of the college graced the occasion and showered her wishes while applauding the cadets for their spirited efforts.

Lecture on Gynaecological disorders At K.C.W

Ludhiana: 27 August 2013: (Vishal/Punjab Screen): The Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit headed by Mrs. Himkanta & Mrs. Nirupma Sood from Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana in collaboration with sunpharma organised an awareness programme on 27th Aug, 2013 to make young girls aware of general gynaecological disorders. The resource person on the occasion was Dr. Seema Goel from Raghunath Hospital, Ludhiana.
Dr. Goel appraised the students with the basic facts of general disorders mainly problems associated with pre-menstrual syndrome, type and features of dymenorrhoea and polycystic ovary syndrome. She also explained about the diagnosis, treatment and medication for all these types of disorders. She further added that polycystic ovary syndrome is caused due to increased level of male hormones in females. According to her all these types of disorders are treatable by medication, changes in diet and exercise. She stressed on the point that this syndrome is one of the leading causes of infertility and also affects the health in many other ways than just reproduction.
Lecture was followed by an interactive session. Students came up with questions and broke their initial shyness. Their queries were answered by the expert very clearly and thoroughly.
Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Varinder Kaur Thind thanked the doctor for sparing the time from her busy schedule.
