Creating awareness on Verka Cattle Feed with Quality mark

A seminar for creating awareness on  Verka Cattle Feed with Quality Mark  has organized by Milkfed Punjab on 19 August 2019 at Pal Auditorium of Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana. Managing Director of Milkfed Punjab S. K. S. Sangha IAS (rtd.) presided over the function and Dr. V Sridhar General Manager Animal Nutrition NDDB Anand, Shri AK Aggarwal  DGM NDDB Noida, Dr.MR Garg Consultant Verka Cattle Feed Plants , Sh. AK Srivastva and Shri N Ghosh Senior Managers Animal Nutrition NDDB Anand also graced the occasion. Around 400 participants comprising of Board of Directors of Milk Unions along with milk producers from five district Milk Unions namely Ludhiana, Mohali, Bathinda, Patiala and Sangrur attended  the seminar.

In the inaugural address, S.Kamaldeep Singh Sangha MD Milkfed said that agriculture is the back bone of the rural economy in the state and country and dairying plays an important role in it. Even though India is the largest milk producing country in the world, there is large scope to improve per animal productivity. For the improvement in production of milk form animals the quality of cattle feed plays an important role therefore our focus should be in providing good quality cattle feed and mineral mixture. To accept the challenge, the premier organization of the milk producers of the state, the  Milkfed established two Cattle Feed Plants with installed capacity of 500 MTs for the manufacturing of good quality cattle feed. Dr. M R Garg consultant Verka Cattle Feed Plants introduced various cattle feed brands manufactured by Milkfed Punjab. He also informed dairy farmers about the various specialized feeds recommended for the pregnant animals i.e. Pregnancy feed, Calf Starter for the Calf Growth Meal for the Growers, Summer Feed for the summer period. He said that apart from manufacturing of Chelated Mineral Mixture Milkfed also going to launch two new products of feed supplements for the animals during this month. 

Two variants of Verka Cattle Feed i.e. Verka Premium and Verka Gold has been awarded with Quality Mark by National Dairy Development Board Anand and formal launch of Quality Mark Cattle Feeds was done by Managing Director Milkfed in the presence of senior dignitaries of NDDB . Dr. V Sridhar General Manager Animal Nutrition NDDB explained during the seminar  that the Quality mark will provide dairy cooperatives and producer institutions the much needed brand identity and competitive edge. This will contribute to building consumer confidence in dairy cooperative brand. He conveyed that the Quality Mark is aimed at bringing about process improvement in entire value chain from manufacturing units to the consumers to ensure availability of quality cattle feed products. Shri A K Aggarwal DGM NDDB Noida during the concluding remarks told that only dairy cattle feed units that adopt quality management systems for production of cattle feed and adhere to parameters given in the guidelines of Quality Mark are only eligible to get the Quality Mark logo for the product.

Sh. A K Aggarwal  General Manager Verka Cattle Feed Plant Khanna welcomed all the dignitaries and participants and Sh. Uttam Kumar offered vote of thanks to all.
