Akali Party Like A Rubber Rubber Band-Captain Singh

 It keeps Expanding & Contracting
Ludhiana: 12th July 2020: (Punjab Screen Bureau)::
In response to a question by Mr Jaskaran Singh of Raikot during #AskCaptain Facebook live session, as to whether the recently established Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) of Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa was a Congress game plan, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said that what happens in the Akali party “is not our job.”
“They keep fighting…..history shows that they keep getting divided. There is nothing new in it. At one point of time there were seven Akali Dal’s. The Akali party is like a rubber band - it keeps expanding and contracting ,” he quipped, adding that these kind of things are normal in their party. “If Dhindsa could not stay with them after being part of SAD his entire life, what can one say,” remarked Captain Amarinder, adding that the beauty of democracy was that one can align with any party any time.
While he welcomes as many political parties as want to join the political bandwagon, the Chief Minister said he was against any party whose main intent is to disturb the state’s peace.
On a point raised by Mr Satish Kumar, a resident of Khanna, regarding PSEB board certificate not recognised for international studies in some countries like Australia, Captain Amarinder said he will take up the issue with the Australian Government and urge them to give due recognition to PSEB school degree for facilitating higher education degree from their country.

Bittu to CM: order to register FIR’s in every police station

18th June 2020 at 8:01 PM
Strict Action Urgently required against Jathedar and SFJ
Ludhiana: 18th June 2020: (Punjab Screen Bureau) ::
Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu today urged Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to order that FIR’s be filed in every police station of the state against Akal Takhat Jathedar Harpreet Singh and singers Diljit Dosanjh and Jazzy Bains for openly supporting Gurpatwant Pannu’s and Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) demand for Khalistan and hence are a part of this organisation that has mocked our martyrs today.
He said that the letter written by Sikhs for Justice head Gurpatwant Pannu to China states that they “empathise” with China and “condemn” India for the violent face-off. “Are they empathising with China for killing our soldiers whose cremation rites are still going on in India including Punjab from where 4 young Sikh soldiers lost their lives defending India?
The whole country and Punjab state is still mourning the death of our young soldiers but these extremist people are empathising with their killers, self-inviting themselves to China for further talks on their extremist agendas and supporting China to disturb India’s and Punjab’s peace,” he said.
Bittu said that the first step they are taking in this direction is by mass calling Punjabis to lure Sikh soldiers in the Indian army to betray the army and join the Khalistan force for Rs 5000 additional salary.
“I want to tell them that we are proud of our sons of Punjab and there is not enough wealth in the world that can alter their spirit to sacrifice their lives for India, let alone betray the Indian army. This is the same organisation that demands Khalistan and has recently been supported by the Jathedar of Akal Takht Harpreet Singh, Singer Diljit Dosanjh and Jazzy Bains,” Bittu said while adding, “It sickens me to the stomach that these people holding high positions, enjoying luxuries and fame in India are supporting an organisation that is expressing joy over the martyrdom of our Indian soldiers.”
He also questioned Sukhbir Singh Badal, Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia that atleast now they should come clean about their stand in regards of the Jathedar. “Are they still in his support? It still isn’t too late. I urge them to come forward and stop this fire from spreading further than it already has,” MP Ravneet Singh Bittu said.

Global Weather Warning

10:35 (UTC) on Tue 11 Feb 2020
Storm Dennis to bring heavy rain and gales to the UK
Author: Press Office
Named by the Met Office, the impacts from this low-pressure system are not expected to be as extreme as Storm Ciara but will bring widespread strong winds and heavy rain to parts of the UK.

The system will develop in the North Atlantic before tracking eastwards towards the UK and Ireland over the coming days, passing to the north of Scotland on Saturday. A National Severe Weather Warning for wind has been issued for much of England and Wales, further warnings are likely to be issued in the coming days.

Steve Ramsdale, Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office said: “Another spell of very wet and windy weather is expected for Saturday, although Storm Dennis is currently not expected to be as severe as Ciara disruption is still likely. Our confidence in the forecast means we have been able to issue severe weather warnings well in advance, giving people time to prepare for potential impacts of the storm.

“With further warnings possible over the next few days people should keep up to date with the Met Office forecast using our website, app or by following us on social media.”

Over the weekend wind gusts will widely reach in excess of 50mph, even across some inland areas, with gusts of over 60mph possible over hills, coastal areas and exposed locations. While these winds have the potential to bring impacts they are not as strong as the gusts we saw last weekend with Storm Ciara when a gust of 97mph was recorded on the Isle of Wight.

Heavy rain is also expected with the storm and with already saturated ground there is a risk of further flooding. Storm Dennis is expected to bring a range of impacts, including delays and cancellations to transport services, damage to power supplies and large coastal waves.

The weather this week, ahead of Storm Dennis, remains unsettled. North westerly winds are bringing cold air across the UK and the north of England and Scotland will continue to see some snow, mainly on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Winds remain strong with sunny, dry spells expected in places especially in the east. (Courtesy: Met Office)

The project is aimed at improving soil fertility
Ludhiana: 20th August 2019: (Punjab Screen Bureau)::

Mr Dan Alluf, Counselor, Embassy of Israel, India, visited PAU today to discuss progress on a collaborative research project on brackish water, started in 2012.  Collaboration between PAU and MASHAV, Israel, the project is aimed at improving soil fertility and plant growth by desalinating brackish water (ground water surveys have shown that about 41% of the well waters are brackish) through installation of a desalination plant with capacity of 10,000 litres per hour , having  90% efficiency since April, 2015.
In his remarks, PAU Vice Chancellor, Dr B.S. Dhillon (Padam Shri awardee) highlighted the primary concern of improving the livelihood of farmers, while keeping water conservation as a prime target. He dwelled on the need for value chains to make farming profitable in the near future. Dr Dhillon called for exchange of scientists between the two countries to intensify further research on fruit and vegetable cultivation in brackish water.
Mr Alluf, while applauding the work done by PAU scientists, called for working in synergy to get maximum output from the project. Giving example of Israel’s agricultural success, despite being a desert, he laid out the road map for Indo-Israel value chain through post harvest management and marketing. While prioritizing water conservation, Mr Alluf discussed technology transfer in fertigation, irrigation, new Israeli varieties, plant protection and weed control, post harvest management, pollination and water re-use.
Project Head and Head, Department of Soil science, Dr O.P. Chaudhry informed that the project is using clean energy provided by solar photo voltaic cells of 60 KW installed at the site in Bathinda and as such dependency of the project on electricity is very low.
Giving further details, Dr Chaudhry informed that 66% of the fruits and 35-40% vegetables are grown in areas afflicted with brackish ground waters. He said that with the water table going down and farmers of the South western Punjab districts relying on good quality canal water for irrigation, it will be imminent in the near future to use marginal and brackish waters for irrigation/supplemental irrigation for fruit and vegetable production.

Additional Director of Research, Dr MIS Gill, and senior scientists of the University were present during the meeting.
