DAV Organises One Day Workshop

Workshop on 'Enhancement of Evaluation Skills'

A one day workshop on 'Enhancement of Evaluation Skills' was organized by DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana under the aegis of DAV Centre of Academic Excellence for the teachers of Class VIII. Mr. Yogesh Gambhir, Principal, DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur was the resource person. 60 teachers from various DAV Institutions falling under Ludhiana zone attended the same.
The workshop which aimed at bringing in objectivity in evaluation of papers, began with decoding of the term success by all the participants as per their ideology and then co-relating it with the student's perception. The Resource Person at the onset encouraged all the participants to love their respective subjects to instill love for knowledge in their students. He added that success is a journey from 'Can I' to ' I did'  and this couid be used to motivate the students to aim for the best in everything.
Generally there is lot of subjectivity in evaluation that can ruin a child's future. In a bid to check the same he started with evaluation of sheets to communicate valuable tips to bring in parity in evaluation at all stages. He also stressed on detailed discussion by evaluators on value points to safeguard the interest of the students. The participants felt enriched with the tips given by  Mr. Gambhir.
Principal, Mrs. J.K. Sidhu in her address hoped for student friendly marking in all examinations. She thanked Mr. Yogesh Gambhir for his initiative and the efforts put in by him to make the workshop interactive and effective to eliminate some of the vices plaguing the examination system of the country.

Capacity Building Workshop Held At DAV BRS Nagar

Dynamism is the key to excellence and DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi is continuously striving hard to promote versatility amongst the teaching faculty so that they are successful in shaping the personalities of the students under their care as per the demands of the changing time.
Keeping the motto of providing best guidance to the nation builders a Two Day Capacity Building Workshop was held at DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana, where 90 teachers teaching Classes Pre-KG to II were the participants from DAV Institutions of Ludhiana zone. The resource persons were Mrs. Ravinder Chawla, Mrs. Sangeeta Mahendru, Mr. P.M. Philip (Principal Holy Angels School, Rajpura) and Mrs. Shubha Sood (Resource Consultant from Scholastic India in Punjab) delved deep into the child psychology to help the teachers plan their lessons to retain the interest of the taught and help them to be comfortable in their classes.
The resource persons stressed upon transacting the educational curriculum in a play-way method that promotes all round development of the children. Innovation and creativity in all fields is a must to make teaching learning process enjoyable so that tender children under their care love to come to school and the same was discussed during the brain storming session. Techniques for improvement of pronunciation and sharpening Emotional and Intelligency Quotient were also provided to the participants.
Stories not only impart values to the listeners but also sustain their interest in the classroom projects and add to the creativity quotient. Tips to narrate stories were well accepted were appreciated by all the participants because narration ultimately leads to good story writing. The hands-on workshop helped teachers have a detailed information about effective transaction of DAV curriculum in the junior Classes and its modes of assessment. The participants enjoyed the session to fullest and carried home the message of making teaching learning a fun based informative process.
Principal Mrs. J.K. Sidhu thanked the Resource Persons for providing valuable tips to the participants that will ensure better teacher-taught bonding and enable the students to come true to the expectations of the teachers.

Investiture ceremony at Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart Sen. Sec. School B.R.S Nagar, Ludhiana celebrated its Investiture ceremony for the Primary Section on 13th May, 2016 with great zeal and fervor. The programme started with the blessings of Almighty in the form of a prayer dance. The worthy Principal of the school Rev. Sister Christo proudly announced the School Cabinet and the House Cabinet for the session 2016-2017 and provided sashes and badges as a mark of recognition to the newly elected members. The newly elected team took a pledge to maintain the prestige of the school and enhance its glory towards the zenith. Rev. Father John, the honourable Director and Rev. Sister Christo, the worthy Principal of the school congratulated and blessed the members of cabinet to fulfill the tenure with perseverance and dedication.

DAV B.R.S. Nagar Celebrates World Athletics Day

It was a neck to neck competition

Games are part and parcel of our lives and excellence in a game polishes one’s overall personality. DAV Public School B.R.S. Nagar today organised Intra Section Athletic meet for the Classes V and VI to mark World Athletics Day. All the students of each section of these classes participated in the events like 50m, 100m and Relay Races.
It was a neck to neck competition with the students sweating it out to win laurels. The event was a fine display of physical endurance, planning and team work on the part of participants vying for top honours. There were three prizes for each event.
Principal Mrs. J.K. Sidhu congratulated the winners and asked others to put their best foot forward to win top position in future. The students were extremely delighted as they got a break from the routine of studies to spend time out in the open with Weather God blessing them with a nice and windy day.
