Ludhiana: 15th March, 2014: (Shalu Arora and Rector Kathuria):
The Music and Theatre workshop, Christian Medical College and Hospital Ludhiana will continue its legacy by presenting an adaption of ‘SHREK-The Musical’ this year on 22, 23 and 24 March, 2014 at The Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan.
Since its inception in 1994, the Music and Theatre workshop has brought forth notable productions such as Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, The Sound of Music, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Addams Family and Wicked. These productions have been highly appreciated by the citizens of Ludhiana.
Students from all 5 colleges under CMC, Ludhiana come together taking out time from their busy schedules to bring forth such productions. This year, about 160 students are actively involved in the cast and crew of ‘SHREK-The Musical’. The props, sets, costumes, lights and sounds are designed and managed by the students themselves. The musicals also feature a director for the cast and a music director for the live performance, under the guidance of faculty advisors.
SHREK-The Musical is a clever mix of drama, an amusing story line, catchy music and humour. Most of the people are aware of the animated films and the broadway musical about this Ogre, the beautiful princes Fiona, the wicked Lord of Duloc and a generous sprinkling of various fairy tale characters from childhood story books!
The proceeds of this Musical will go towards the benefit of patients treated at Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, who need financial help.
