FIR was registered against 24 doctors

An emergency General body meeting of IMA Ludhiana was held in IMA House, BRS Nagar Ludhiana 0n 4th March 2014 to protest against the increasing number of assaults on the doctors. The meeting was called in the view what has recently happened in Dev Hospital Jamalpur Ludhiana, Raj Hospital Talwanddi Sabo & Medical College Kanpur. In the latter incidence the police and politician joined hands to beat up the doctors. FIR was registered against 24 doctors, 36 medicos are missing and more than 400 medical students were beaten up mercilessly. In Talwanddi Sabo, case was registered against the doctor under IPC 304 and he was arrested and is still under arrested. This is in gross violation of Supreme Court orders according to which no doctor can be arrested and no case may be registered against him until medical negligence is proved by board of doctors.
Similar violation of court orders happened at Dev Hospital, where hospital property was vandalized by relatives of the patient and no case has been registered against the culprits.
The IMA highly condemns this sort of incidences which are growing not only in city, State but all across the country.
IMA demands immediate release of Dr. Dinesh of Talwanddi Sabo and withdrawal of all the cases against him.
The persons responsible for vandalizing hospital property and police officers, who registered cases against the doctors should be booked.
Once again IMA highly condemns Kanpur Incidence and sympathizes with doctors and medical students.
According to the National IMA Headquarter, if the action is not taken against the culprits the doctors will go on indefinite strike nationwide.
Large numbers of the doctors took part in the meeting.
