69th Republic Day was celebrated at IMA House BRS Nagar Ludhiana today.

Dr. Rajoo Singh Dean Academics, DMC&H was the Chief Guest. Dr. Manoj Kumar Sobti Member Punjab Medical Council & Dr. Arun Gupta President IMA Ludhiana welcomed the Chief Guest.

Dr. Rajoo Singh  hoisted the National Flag. He paid homage to the martyrs & reminded the doctors of their duties and advised them to come upto the expectations of the society. He gave prizes to the children who performed cultural program. Dr. Sanjeev Uppal & Dr. Amarinder Singh sang patriotic songs.

Dr. Saroj Aggarwal Honorary Secretary IMA Ludhiana conducted the function. She welcomed the delegates and sang Vand-e-Matram. Around 100 doctors attended the function.

Doctors irked over Togadia’s participation in IMA rally

The ranks of medical fraternity under the Indian Medical Association (IMA) here are divided on the participation of VHP leader Pravin Togadia in the protest held by the IMA in New Delhi on June 6. Doctors across the country had observed a strike demanding a central legislation to deal with violence against doctors.

In an open letter written to IMA president KK Aggarwal, former district president and former state senior vice-president Dr. Arun Mitra said the doctors here had whole-heartedly supported the nationwide strike on June 6 because they were convinced that the majority of the doctors were sensitive towards their duty and sincerely tended to the sick and infirm.

Taking strong exception to inviting ParveenTogadia to address the IMA rally at New Delhi, Dr. Mitra charged the IMA president of either being ignorant and naive about Togadia’s hard line views or having some ulterior motive. “The act of inviting Togadia to the rally has lowered the professional prestige of the organization,” he remarked.

Mitra said doctors were entitled to know the reason for inviting Togadia to address the rally when he has no locus standi. 

In his letter Dr. Mitra said,"We actively participated in the  protest against violence on  doctors organized by the   IMA on 6th June 2017 because we are convinced that most of the doctors are sensitive towards their duty of care to the patients, they are compassionate and are truthful in their total approach to the care of the sick and the infirm.  Even though we have strong reservations over certain approaches of the IMA central leadership, for example, getting support from the pharmaceutical companies for organizing education programs in a lavish manner,  endorsing certain commercial products and also on holding IMA meetings in places like  Pataya in Thailand. As concerned members, we had pointed out about these from time to time." 

He further said,"I, Arun Mitra have been an active member of the association since the early 1980s and was President of the Ludhiana unit and then senior vice president of Punjab state IMA in 2009. Therefore despite the reservations mentioned above we have been involved in the IMA because I feel that this is the premier body of the doctors which carries legacy of eminent persons like Dr A K N Sinha and Dr B C Roy. But we were utterly perturbed to learn that Parveen Togadia was invited to address the rally at Delhi.

Doctors are taught to have patience and provide care within best of our ability to the patients irrespective of caste, creed or community. As a doctor we give declaration and pledge that we will consecrate life to the service of humanity. This clearly means that we dedicate ourselves to humanity. Parveen Togadia is well known for venomous hate speeches. When one possesses bias against a particular community how can one justify the commitment to serve all the people in the same manner?

Inviting ParveenTogadia to address indicates that either you are ignorant and naive about Togadia's views or you have some ulterior motive.  This act of inviting Togadia has lowered the professional prestige of the organization.

As citizens of the country and members of IMA we have every reason to know why he was invited to address when he has no locus standi, he is neither any office bearer of the IMA nor he is a doctor of great eminence that his presence will boost the cause of IMA.

IMA Ludhiana in association with Punarjot Eye Bank Society (Regd) organised a special seminar cum press conference on 27th November (Thursday), 4:00 pm at IMA House, B.R.S Nagar, Ludhiana.

Dr. PS Jassal Honorary Secretary IMA Ludhiana informed the audience that as they are feeling proud that we are going for smart city title for our Ludhiana. Let us contribute our role in health education and in prevention of ill effects of noise, air and physical injuries during Diwali.

Dr. Sanjeev Uppal Mch, HOD Plastic surgery DMC&H gave away the tips to have safe diwali. He said that children should be supervised by adults while bursting crackers and a bucket full of water should be kept nearby. He further told that crackers should be bursted in open space like play grounds, fields or roof top and recommended use of sparkle (fuljhari) to ignite crackers specially anaars, rockets, bobms and chakaries. This will avoid the risk of injuries to hands and face, he added.

Dr. Dinesh Goyal DM chest specialist suggested that all the asthmatic patients should take their preventive medication regularly and rescue medicine on need basis. Avoid inhalation of smoke as much as possible. Limiting use of crackers on diwali is one of the best way to decrease the human suffering particularly asthmatics patients.

Dr. Ramesh Medical Eye specialist told that in case of eye injuries due to firecracker first we should seek medical advice. We should not rub the eyes, rinse the eyes, apply the pressure and remove any object that stuck in eyes. Do not apply eye ointment or take the blood thinning and pain medication such as aspirin or ibuprofen.

Dr. Kulwant Singh President IMA Ludhiana appealed to all IMA doctors to participate with their expertise and experience in health education to prevent medical injuries to citizens of Ludhiana. IMA Ludhiana always worked for welfare of society and wishes all citizens of smart city Ludhiana very happy and safe Diwali.

Vision Health Indians Committee of IMA Punjab has selected the following topics for vision, mission and moral statement writing competition -----

1.     Creation on central Health Insurance Corporation of India( HIC ) to provide financial support to the patients to get treatment for their diseases, unlike Life Insurance Co. of India ( LIC ) which provides relief to the family after the person insured is dead.

2.     Uplifting state and central Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals to International standards.

A Meeting of the Office Bearers of IMA Ludhiana Branch was held on 28-6-2015 at IMA House, Ludhiana. The office bearers decided to celebrate Doctor's Day which is in July and a CME will be held on 11-7-2015 on cancer and Independence Day will be celebrated.

Dr. O P Arora Managing Director of Arora Neuro Centre Pvt. Ltd. Mall Road, Ludhiana gave his representation to IMA Ludhiana about the harassment, humiliation inconvenience, mental and physical torture,  which he suffered during his inquiry in the PMC office at Mohali on 26-6-2015. As demanded by PMC through a written letter, Dr. O P Arora had to take all the original records of Indoor, OPD, MRI, CT Scan, Income Tax returns and personal accounts of last three years. Which he loaded in three trucks and three ambulances and travelled from Ludhiana to Mohali. To his surprise on his arrival at Mohali, PMC refused to accept the original records and asked him to take it back.

IMA Ludhiana condemned the callous attitude of PMC towards doctors. Copy of Dr. O P Arora’s representation will be sent to IMA Punjab shortly for further action as per his request.

First IMA General Body meet after election

After the hectic IMA Ludhiana election activity last month the new team of executive members took charge in a well attended General Body Meeting on 6^th April at the IMA House auditorium. The always calm and smiling Dr. Ajit Singh Chawla welcomed the members. The din of elections being over the doctors sat together to discuss various issues concerning the fraternity and welfare of the patients and the society.

The meeting was followed by an academic session where Dr. Ajit Sood and Dr Pradeep Kapoor updated the doctors about Hepatitis C and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Dr Sood of Dayanand Medical College informed that hepatitis C, a viral infection usually transmitted by blood is becoming more rampant and high risk patients include intravenous drug users, men and women receiving blood transfusions or dialysis, patients with an impaired immune system such as HIV patients and individuals who received tattoos with non steriled equipment. Additionally, the disease may be seen in health care workers who were exposed to the virus as part of their duty during service to patients. There is a clear cut change in the protocol to test and treat hepatitis C patients. It is important to detect the disease early because the virus can lead to chronic liver disease, liver failure and liver cancer – all of which can be prevented with the treatments now available.

Another important topic discussed was heart disease in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients. Emerging evidence shows that the lung disease is more in smokers and is linked with increased heart disease. The heart disease is often overlooked and may be difficult to detect as both cause breathlessness. An alert doctor can detect it early, said Dr Pardeep Kapoor, a senior consultant and Head of Chest Disease department of Mohandai Oswal Hospital. Many large scale studies solidify the link between COPD and cardiovascular disease, and studies indicate the efficacy of inhaled steroids and other drugs in treating COPD and reducing cardiovascular risk.

These events aim to provide the latest and relevant clinical updates practical for patient care. Dr. Kulwant Singh declared IMA Ludhiana President Elect for 2016

Elections for the post of President Elect-2016 and two posts vice presidents 2015 of IMA Ludhiana were conducted smoothly at the IMA House Ludhiana on 22-3-2015. Total number of votes hold were 503.

Dr. Kulwant Singh was declared elected as President Elect – 2016. He received 274 votes as against Dr. Narjit Kaur who bagged 217 votes.

Dr. Avinash Jindal and Dr. Deepak Parasher were declared elected Vice Presidents – 2015.

They received 355 and 289 votes respectively. Dr. P S Kohli was the third candidate who got 239 votes.

The election commission comprising of Dr. Jasbir Singh Chugh, Dr. Pritpal Singh, Dr. Anil Vohra conducted the election process and observer from State IMA Punjab Dr. Rakesh Vig, Dr. Jagatjeet Singh Virk and Dr. Yogeshwar Sood were present for smooth and fair elections.

The election commission of IMA Ludhiana thanked the IMA Ludhiana members for voting in such large number as 503 voters were polled out of 592 eligible voters.

No untoward incident was reported during the elections.

Disapproves attempts to implicate two DMCH faculty members

IMA Punjab condoles the sad and irreparable loss of a young and promising post graduate medical student, Dr Supriya recently in an unfortunate incident of suicide.  IMA Punjab expresses its full sympathy to the bereaved family and offers its heartfelt condolences to the parents of Dr Supriya.

it must be taken as a awake up call by the concerned authorities in the medical teaching institutions to decrease the stress levels of the medical students. Regular psychological counseling and stress management should be made a compulsory part of the teaching programs to prevent such unfortunate incidents.

However IMA Punjab disapproves of the attempts being made to implicate two faculty members of the DMC & H Ludhiana in the case and to give a cattiest angle to this unfortunate episode.IMA Pb is of the view that fair enquiry be held at the earliest to clear the confusion. IMA also feels that it should not become a mud-slinging contest against respective medical faculty until anything adverse is established in a high level probe.

IMA Punjab further deplores the media trial of the faculty members of the DMC &H Ludhiana and appeals for calm and balanced approach to the whole matter.  Who so ever is found guilty should be punished after a fair and thorough enquiry but it should be ensured that public and media pressure should not influence the trial. We pray that truth prevails.  

The Emergency Executive Meeting of IMA Ludhiana

Cases of Dr Sofat and Dr Supriya were discussed

The Emergency Executive Meeting of IMA Ludhiana was held today in IMA House regarding action taken by PMC against a very senior doctor Mrs. Rama Sofat and Dr. Ruchika Sofat, Dr. Amit Sofat in which case their registration was suspended for three months and they were booked under a case of fraud allegedly for cheating people.

Dr. J R Sofat representing their cases said that they were not given the chance to represent their cases and in no way a case of fraud can be registered against them. The IMA members found it to be correct on basis of evidence submitted by Dr. J R Sofat.

The members reviewed the technicality of the case and were of the opinion that PMC is not taking any action against large corporate hospitals and laboratories but targeting individual doctors. The quacks are doing illegal practice right under the nose of PMC and fleecing innocent patients.

It was unanimously agreed upon that treatment metted to Dr. Mrs. Rama Sofat is very harsh and uncalled for.

It was reiterated that IMA should be involved before deciding such serious allegations and taking such harsh decisions against doctors. It was also decided to send the case to Punjab State IMA through its President Dr. Sudhir Raj, who is also ex-officio member of PMC

In the meeting the case of Dr. Supriya, a post graduate of DMC who committed suicide was also discussed. IMA convey all the sympathies to the family of deceased but strongly said that the two doctors, Dr. Punit Punni & Dr. Deepak Bhatt are being falsely implicated in the case. The IMA stand by the resolution submitted by management and faculty of DMC to the IMA Ludhiana. The matter has been brought to the notice of Punjab IMA also.

The people in the disaster affected areas in Jammu and Kashmir are reeling under severe health problems and economic difficulties. They require long term planning for a comprehensive health care, economic uplift through massive aid by the central government. This was the impression gathered by the medical relief team which left Ludhiana on 27^th September and returned on 3^rd October. The team included Dr Arun Mitra, Dr Arun Kumar Handa from Ludhiana, Dr Shakeel Ur Rahman & Dr Satyajit Kumar Singh from Patna, Dr.Dharmakari Ramkishan from Hyderabad, Dr.Uzair, Dr Suhail from Jammu, Dr.G.M.Malik-national vice President IDPD, Dr Latif Mohamad, Dr Bashir Ahmed, Dr Aijaz, Dr Salim Khan from IDPD. Mr.Ramadhar Singh, Mr.Anod Kumar, Mr.Sanjeet as paramedical staff and Mr.Rafiq. The mission was organized by the joint efforts of  Indian Doctors For Peace & Development (IDPD), Indian Medical Association (IMA) Ludhiana,  Rotary Club Ludhiana Greater, Whole Sale Chemists Association, Ludhiana Distt. Chemist Association, All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) and All India Youth Federation(AIYF). The team split itself into different groups and gave medical care to the people in the badly affected areas of Srinagar and villages in district Pulwama. The relief material blankets, sweaters, other garments and eatables were distributed in several areas in coordination with different voluntary groups in the valley.

In all nearly ten thousand patients were examined. Large number of population particularly women and children were found to be anaemic and poorly nourished. The infectious diseases particularly abdominal, skin, allergic reactions, joint pains were in very high number as a result of staying in water for long time. Population in the affected area were suffering from anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder.

Dr A K Handa told that the team was shocked to see the two major hospitals, the Govt. Medical College and Hospital and JVC Medical College and Hospital still under water. Most of small hospitals and clinics severely damaged. Almost all the equipment in these hospitals completely destroyed.

Dr. Arun Mitra - General secretary IDPD and Former President IMA Ludhiana, who led the team said that they found filth and silt all around the city. The whole city was stinking very badly. Many areas around the Jhelum river were still submerged under water. Most of the commercial establishments were damaged. Many people lost their houses as well as shops. The cleaning effort was found to be at a very low pace. This could pose serious health problems in time to come.

There is need for a continuity of work on the health care and economic uplift of the people. There is need for long term planning to avert and manage disasters of such magnitude by making a disaster management force of trained and effective workers with latest equipment. There is need for proper planning to preserve ecology by preventing deforestation & adopting development strategy keeping the environment into consideration to avoid any such disaster in future.

We appeal to the government to clear the city of garbage on war footings; immediately give sufficient aid to restore working of the medical institutions; to announce economic measures like interest free loans for building houses and commercial establishments. Give aid to the economically lower strata.  Team also felt that the people are angry at unplanned distribution of the material by the government machinery. This should be streamlined and there should be no hesitation in accepting aid from the well recognized international agencies to meet up the requirements of this disaster.

Free Multi-Specialty Medical Check-Up Camp by IMA

A monthly  free multi-specialty medical check-up camp was organized in IMA House on 21-9-2014 (Sunday) by IMA Ludhiana in association with Health Department Ludhiana & Punjab Medical Representative Association Ludhiana.
More than 100 patients were examined in the camp. Blood test and ECG were done free. Medicines were distributed to the needy patients free of cost.
The following doctors attended the medical camp Dr. R K Sharma, Dr. Deepak Parasher, Dr. Narjit Kaur, Dr. Deepak K. Gupta, Dr. Divya Arora and Dr. Neeraj Aggarwal and many others .

The doctors of Ludhiana on roads against hooliganism

The doctors of IMA Ludhiana are anguished at the recent incident of hooliganism at the Arora Nursing Home, Baba Than Singh Chowk, Ludhiana by certain unscrupulous elements. The doctors are trained to prevent disease and treat a person if she/he is befallen ill. Many a times despite best efforts, we are not able to cure the patient. In this specific case the patient Jyoti, who was a case of Acute Asthma with severe Pulmonary Tuberculosis was admitted at the Arora Nursing Home on 20-7-2014 in a critical condition. After initial stabilization the relatives of the patient were told to shift her to CMC Hospital as the prognosis was poor. But they refused to do so under written informed consent and wanted treatment to be continued at Arora Nursing Home only. She showed improvement but on 23rd July at 8.40 am she again became critical. The attendants were again told to shift her to CMC Hospital but they refused again due to financial problems. Despite best efforts by treating team the patient could not be saved. Some of the relatives at this juncture started creating ruckus and called few hundred people there. On provocation by Mr. Mukesh Khatri & his accomplices; they started pelting stones and damaged the hospital property. They staged a dharna outside the hospital but only with police intervention they took the body for postmortem. Again for the next two days they set on dharna in front of the hospital led by Mr. Ramesh Bangar & Mr. Mukesh Khatri and blocked the functioning of the hospital. Some people even threatened Dr. Arora & hospital staff with abusive language and threatened of physical assault. Mr. Ramesh Bangar & Mr. Mukesh Khatri demanded Rs. 5 Lacs to settle the matter.

There are several forums for the redressal of the grievances of the patients. Patients and their relatives should not indulge into any kind of violence against doctors or hospital staff when provocated by so called Mohalla leaders / Local politicians / black-mailer & self-styled mischievous NGO leaders. Damage to the hospital property is cognizable offence under the “Punjab Protection of Medicare Services Persons and Institutions (Prevention of Violence and damage to property) Act 2008.  The Indian Medical Association has time and again demanded that this act should be implemented in letter and spirit and the life / property of the doctors be protected. Only under such conditions and a tension free atmosphere the doctors can discharge their duties well. We demand:

1.   All those who indulged in violence should be booked under above-said law.

2.    Government or administration should make it sure that no such dharna be allowed in front of any hospital in case of any such eventuality.

3.    We request the media also not to highlight the news against doctors without verifying the facts thus indicting the concerned doctor and damaging his reputation which he has earned in years.  

4.    Special campaign to be launched by the administration to sensitize the junior police force and the people about this issue.

We further appeal to the people to trust in the doctors because the doctors are most pained in the event of any mishap with any patient.

Doctor’s day was celebrated today on 29th June 2014 in IMA House Ludhiana to Honour the legendary physician and the second chief minister of West Bengal, Dr. B. C Roy who was awarded highest civilian award Bharat Rattan. The IMA affirmed its commitment to the care of sick and the infirm through participation in various health programmes for the society.
In the morning a blood donation camp was organized in the IMA House in collaboration with Civil Hospital. The donated blood was handed over to blood transfusion officer civil hospital Ludhiana Dr. Ramandeep Kaur.
Dr. B S Mangat, Dr. Avinash Jindal, Dr. Vishal Garg, Dr. Harish Kirpal & Mr. Sudhir Kumar from IMA Ludhiana donated the blood along with many others.
S. Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria Mayor Municipal Corporation Ludhiana was the Chief Guest at the evening function. He was presented a memorandum concerning various problems faced by the doctors of the city. In his address he assured the doctors of full cooperation to address their issues. He felicitated several senior doctors of the city for their services to the Association, profession and the society.
Many doctors, their spouses  and children presented music, dance and IMA House was brought alive with the cultural programme.

A spl. GBM & CME was held in IMA House on 24th May 2014 (Saturday). Dr R.K Sharma President IMA Ludhiana presented constitution of IMA Ludhiana which was passed by the House.

The CME organised by Medanta-The Medicity Gurgaon was on urogenital cancers and cyberknife -a tool to cure cancers

Dr N.P Singh and Dr Tejinder Kataria spoke about Robotic Surgery and Cyberknife, two very recent modalities to treat cancer which are available only at very few places in big Metropolis. The Sessions were chaired by Dr B.S Aulakh, Dr G.S Sidhu, Dr Deepak Parasher & Dr Gurdeep Singh.

Lifestyle changes adversely affected fertility

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, about 10-15 per cent (or 13-19 million) of married couples in India are infertile. This is a rather overwhelming figure, especially in light of the fact that diabetes (another high incidence ailment) is a mere 3-5 percent.
“Experts also feel that lifestyle changes of the 21st century have adversely affected fertility, resulting in low sperm count, infections, chronic disease and erectile dysfunction in the male and damaged fallopian tubes, PCOS, low egg production and fibroids in the female. PCOS i.e. polycystic ovarian syndrome is one of the biggest problem in Indian Women” said Dr. Manika Khanna, MBBD, MD (D.A.G.E Germany) Director, Gaudium IVF & Gynae Solutions, Ludhiana today in CME conducted at IMA hall, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana.
Indian Medical Association President Dr. R K Sharma said“In today’s scenario lifestyle is a very big problem with this generation. The problem is prevalent among professionals in the fast mode, such as busy professionals in the software and IT sector. Working at the computer for 12-14 hours at a stretch, lack of attention or time for nutrition and a disturbed sleep cycle have all become perfect ingredients for infertility”
In this CME eminent Doctors of Ludhiana from different experienced Medical fraternity has actively participated. General physicians and Gynecologists  were high in numbers. Addressing to all the Doctors,Dr. Manika Khanna, Director Gaudium IVF, Ludhiana said “Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorders among females. It is one of the leading causes of female subfertilityand the most frequent endocrine problem in women of reproductive age.
Indian Medical Association in conjunction with Gaudium IVF & Gynae solutions has taken this initiative in Ludhiana to educate more and more people about infertility and its causes. All the doctors has praised this CME.

15 minutes to daily fitness was appreciated

Ludhiana: 8th Feb 2014: (Punjab Screen Bureau): 
DOSST alongwith LOGS, IMA Ludhiana and All India Working Women Forum, Ludhiana organized a Health Mela in Model town extension market, backside Krishna Mandir.
Theme was Healthy Women Empowered women. Various stalls were anemia, iron deficiency, calcium,vitamin D, Thyroid, hair/skincare, safe abortion-rules/laws.
District legal authority, Family Welfare department, Fortis hospital cancer wing were other participants.
15 minutes to daily fitness was appreciated.
Empowered women who were honoured included Ms Anshu Seth, Mrs Zeenat Sehgal,Dr Mandeep Kaur, Mrs Jeet Kumari. Jaswinder Kaur, Kulwant Kaur.
Carrier counselling, Bank loans for women, Lijjat papad cooperative society, Fevicryl hobby ideas stalls were well attended. 
Panel discussion on women empowerment was the centre of attraction. Panelist were Dr Bharti Uppal, Dr RK Sharma, Mrs Gurcharan Kaur, Jaswinder Kaur, Mr Singla, Dr Parveen Moudgil.
Many skits/songs were performed on atrocities on women by DMC,Oswal hospital,DAV school.
Main guests present in the function were Dr Subash Batta, Dr Arun Mitra, Dr Neelam Sodhi, Dr Ginny Gupta, Dr Narjit Kaur, Dr Saroj, Dr Renu Verma, Dr Vaneet Kaur.
Around 600 persons attended the Mela. 105 Ladies got BMD test, 33 ladies got Thyroid testing and 123 patients had Hb testing. Calcium/Vit-D/Iron tablets were distributed.
Doctors wanted to give society message on this day that women are too strong a force to be ignored. A developed society will emerge from only us women empowerment.

IMA meet condemned the incidences in UP

ESMA on the doctor is shameful

Doctors of IMA Ludhiana assembled at IMA House, BRS Nagar today to protest against the unprecedented violence against the medical fraternity at Kanpur as per the directions of National IMA HQ, New Delhi.

Large Numbers of doctors from Clinics, Nursing Homes and Hospitals were present in the meeting. Some hospitals sent their representatives. The meeting condemned the incidences in Kanpur and elsewhere. There was complete failure of administration and atrocities were committed against the innocent students and doctors at the behest of a communal & corrupt politician, aided and abetted by the district administration & police force represented by SSP Kanpur.

The administration has imposed ESMA on the doctor, which is shameful.

The meeting also condemned the happenings in Talwanddi Sabo, where the doctor was arrested under section 304 without constituting the board of experts, thus violating the Supreme Court orders. There was no case registered against the culprits who ransacked the hospital and manhandled staff against Punjab Medicare Protection Act 2010. The hooliganism and ransacking of property at DEV Hospital Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana after the death of a new born baby and no registration of the case against the culprits under the said act, was also condemned. The members asked the authorities to immediately quashing of FIR against Dr. Dinesh Bansal & registration of criminal cases against the culprits at Ludhiana & Talwanddi Sabo. The IMA may go to court if the demands are not met against the concerned persons.

Later all the members went to Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, where the meeting of the Principal, Staff and students was being held. They expressed their solidarity with the students and thanked the Principal Dr. Daljit Singh & Dr. Sanjeev Uppal for observing OPD bandh.

Dr. R K Sharma President IMA Ludhiana stressed the need for strengthening of IMA.

Dr. Manoj Kumar Sobti President IMA Punjab discussed the various issues concerning doctors in Punjab.

Dr. Arun Mitra, Dr. Narjit Kaur, Dr. Avinash Jindal, Dr. Deepak Parasher, Dr. Ajit Singh Chawla, Dr. Anakhvir Gill, Dr. D S Batth and others expressed their views.

However the strike was called off considering the decision of the High Court & unconditional release of 24 medical students by Uttar Pardesh Government.
