A new step against commercialization of education
Ludhiana: 14 August 2016: (Swaroop Singh//Punjab Screen):
Against the commercialization of education in Ludhiana city parents of different schools staged a Education Freedom March from Gulmor hotel to Bhai Bala Chowk, Ferozepur Road , After this awareness drive was organized by holding a rally at the Statue of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha.
This march was coordinated by different school parents and following demands were raised
1. Formulate a Regulatory Body to check malpractices and excess fees to be charged by Private Unaided Schools Affiliated to CBSE.
2. The Government must act promptly to discontinue annual charges, re-admission charges and development funds etc. raised by the private Unaided Schools.
3. Tuition fee must be formulated through transparent way and private unaided schools must be barred from excess expenditure and diversion of funds.
4. Parent Teachers Association (PTA) must be formed democratically through election and information of election should be provided to all parents prior one month.
5. Loot in the name of books and logo copies must be stopped. These must be made available in the open market.
6. The level of education in the government Schools must be raised.
7. When the governments have facilitated the private institution through land and Income tax rebates then must end their status as ‘UNAIDED’.
