It was like festtive event. Nearly 70 per cent voters turned out to elect the 16th Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Sunday. The usual hustle-bustle at polling booths was missing.Young and older both were happy. First time voters were enjoying it too. They were participating in the process to elect new govt.

The Punjab on Sunday witnessed overall peaceful single phased poll to elect 117 representatives for assembly constituencies of state. Till 5pm, 63.44 voting percentage was recorded in Punjab.

for coming out in large numbers to exercise their democratic right , Dr S Karuna Raju, Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab said that by conducting themselves responsibly the people of Punjab have set an excellent example. He said that focus of ECI was to ensure peaceful poll in a free and fair manner. He said that it was a matter of great satisfaction that 196 all Women polling stations also saw large numbers of voters. Dr Raju said that the main feature of this election was deputition of 8784 micro-observers in addition to 65 General Observers, 29 Police observers and 50 expenditure observers by ECI.

He said that in the morning during mock poll 146 ballot units, 152 control units and 433 VVPAT machines were replaced, while 72 ballot units, 64 control units and 649 VVPATs were replaced during the conduct of poll.

 

He also said that there was not a single case of disruption of poll and inducement of voters that was brought to the notice of the Commission during the day.

 

Dr Raju thanked all the Polling Personnel,  Security Personnel and Punjab Police Personnel for working day and night to ensure free, fair and peaceful polls in the State.

 

He also thanked 25000 Booth Level Officers (BLO), PWD coordinators, Asha Workers, Aanganwadi workers, Mid-Day-Meal workers and Village Chowkidars for their contribution in the election process.

 

On Law & Order situation, Dr Raju said that some minor poll related incidents witnessed in the state and a total of 18 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered on day of polling to avert any untoward incidents.

After the Model Code of Conduct came into force in the state for Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections, various enforcement teams have seized valuables worth Rs 305 crores in violation of code till January 30, 2022.

Giving details in this regard, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Punjab Dr S Karuna Raju today said that the surveillance teams have seized 26.64 lakh litres of liquor worth Rs 12.11 crore. Similarly, the enforcement wings have also recovered psychotropic substances amounting to Rs 273.13 crores besides confiscating unaccounted cash of Rs 18.48 crore, he added.

The Chief Electoral Officer revealed that as many as 1197 vulnerable hamlets have been identified. Besides this, 2860 persons have been identified as probable sources of trouble, he said adding that out of these persons preventive action had already been initiated against 1835 persons while the remaining would also be brought to book. He also informed that from a security point of view 696 persons have been bound down under preventive sections of CrPC act.

He informed that as many as 2630 cases of non-bailable warrants have been executed, while execution in 58 cases is under process. As many as 14997 nakas are operational across the State, he added.

As per the directions of the election commission, Dr Raju said that of total 3,90,275 licensed weapons in the state 376451 weapons have been deposited till date. Whereas, 65 without licenses weapons were seized in the state.

Former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today said that national security and the welfare of Punjab was on top of his agenda and hoped that next PLC-BJP goverment will successfully work on that.

Addressing a public meeting after inducting senior Congress leader,  Jagdish Kumar Jagga into the party, here today, Capt Amarinder said, the two parties were working in close coordination to ensure success in the ellections.

Later talking to reporters, Capt Amarinder said, the case registered against Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia will not stand legal scrutiny as the government had not followed due process of law.

He also condemned the killing of the sacrilege accused in Durbar Sahib and Kapurthala, saying the accused should have been handed over to the police.

Responding to a question on registration of an FIR against Majithia, he asked on what basis the government had registered the case against him since the report on drug trafficking was still lying with Punjab and Haryana High Court in a sealed cover. "After all there is a law in the country and I am sure it will not stand the legal scrutiny in the court of law", he said, while adding, "just because you don't like someone, you can't put him behind bars".

To a question on lynchings in Amritsar and Kapurthala, Capt Amarinder said, the accused should have been handed over to the police. No civilised society can and should approve of such killings.

On the issue of people getting angry for denial of justice over Behbal Kalan sacrilege, thus resorting to such killings, the former Chief Minister said, his government had pursued it from day one.

He said, first the state had to fight a long legal battle to get the inquiry back from the Central Bureau of Investigation and then the investigation was started and 22 people including police officials and civilians were arrested who are on bail now.

He said, there is no justification for mob lynching, whatsoever and it is condemnable.

Earlier Capt Amarinder was accorded a rousing reception by people of this industrial town. His cavalcade of cars was led by a motorcycle rally, participated over by hundreds of youth. He was greeted and cheered by people and was showered with flowers all through the route.

Capt Amarinder recalled his sentimental association with Rajpura town. He said, his father late Maharaja Yadwinder Singh had settled the refugees from Bahawalpur in this town and his mother Late Rajmata Mohinder Kaur used to look after the refugees and he used to visit the camps with her.

Responding to the complaints of harassment, arm twisting, intimidation and registration of false cases at the behest of local MLA, Capt Amarinder said, he will ensure that he (the MLA) is held accountable very soon. "The time for this government is up and it is just a matter of few days when code of conduct will be imposed", he said, while adding, "neither this MLA, nor this government will be seen anywhere after the elections".

Capt Amarinder thanked the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Home Minister Amit Shah in particular, for their whole hearted support for Punjab.

He said, his top most priority was national security and good governance in Punjab. He warned against the designs of the enemy country which was continuously sending in weapons for creating trouble here. He emphasised the need for close coordination between the Punjab Police and various central security agencies.

Congratulating Jagdish Jagga for organising an impressive public meeting, Capt Amarinder said, this reflected his popularity among the people.

On the issue of ticket distribution, Capt Amarinder said, his party and the Bharatiya Janata Party will work together to finalise the winning candidates only.

He also thanked the BJP leaders and workers who attended the meeting.

While claiming one sided victory for Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party coalition in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections, Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal today said that people would teach befitting lesson to both Congress and Aam Aadmi Party. He said that the people have already seen the anti-Punjab approach of the Congress party and now the Aam Aadmi Party's stand against Punjab over the river waters issue has unmasked their real face.

While speaking to media persons on the second day of his Sangat Darshan programme in Khanna constituency, the Chief Minister, while replying to a question as to which political party would pose real threat to the SAD-BJP in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections, said that their coalition would have a one sided clean sweep as people have already seen the Anti-Punjab face of both Congress and Aam Aadmi Party and that is why people have rejected them completely.

On a question related to distribution of tickets to youth for upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections, Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal said that their party has promoted many youngsters and the candidates would be chosen amongst those who could score a victory.

While replying to another question related to the Congress party claim that they would waive off debt of farmers after coming to power, Mr Badal said that the Congress party did not do anything for the welfare of farmers during their more than 50 years of rule and so the Congress leaders should not make such false claims. While terming the Congress claims as pure lies, Mr Badal said that Capt Amarinder had stopped free electricity to farmers that was given at the time of SAD-BJP government, immediately after coming back to power. While taking of steps taken by the state government for the benefit of farmers, Mr Parkash Singh Badal said that the government is currently giving a subsidy worth Rs 5000 crore for tube wells of farmers. He said that now the government is providing interest free loan up to Rs 50,000, besides free health treatment of up to Rs 50,000 to farmers. He said that there is also a provision of an insurance of Rs 5 lakh in case the head of family dies in an accident or incapacitation.

While addressing the people of different villages, Mr Parkash Singh Badal appealed them to take any political decision carefully. He appealed that they should choose only those parties which have stood by them during their testing times as one wrong decision can prove fatal for them as well as for the state.

The Chief Minister said that the Congress party has damaged the state politically, religiously as well as economically. He said that first the party ordered army attack on Shri Harimandir Sahib, which directly hit the Sikhs and later, ordered killing of innocent Sikhs in Delhi. He said that Congress even backstabbed our great leader Sant Harchand Singh Longowal. He said that it was the Congress which made the Rajiv-Longowal pact, and later, did not stand by it. He said that the Congress is still dilly-dallying the decision of transferring Chandigarh as well as Punjabi speaking areas to Punjab.

In his attack on the Aam Aadmi Party, Mr Parkash Singh Badal said that they are constantly trying to divide the society, but people would not fall prey to the evil motives. He said that the Sangat Darshan programmes are organised so that we can save both time and energy and increase people participation in development works. He said that Punjab is the only state in the country where Sangat Darshan Programmes are organised and they are organised only when people choose him to serve the state. He said that the Sangat Darshan programmes are organised so that people's grievances are redressed on the spot and the accountability of officers can be fixed.

The Chief Minister's Sangat Darshan programmes were today organised in villages Alipur, Gohn, Harion Kalan, Khatra and Majri, where he listened to grievances of more than two dozen panchayats and distributed cheques for various development works. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Chief Minister's Special Principle Secretary Dr S Karuna Raju, senior Akali leader of the area Mr Ranjit Singh Talwandi, DIG Mr S K Kalia, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Mr Ravi Bhagat, SSP Khanna Mr Satinder Singh, Senior Akali leader Mr Iqbal Singh Channi, Mr Inderpal Singh, besides several others.

An address tag used on the Control Unit found on road

Dear Friends,

We wish to bring a shocking incident to your notice. An address tag used on the Control Unit used at Polling Station No.29 at Shivajinagar / Mankhurd assembly segment of the Mumbai North East Parliamentary constituency was found on the road at Shivajinagar today. This address tag is an important identifier of the machine used on the day of polling and the tag being found on the road indicates that the machine could have been tampered with before being transported to the place of storage after the elections. We have already filed a complaint with the Returning Officer and urged him not to start counting in this booth till thorough investigation is done in this matter.  A copy of our complaint and the picture of the tag is being sent to you.

Vows to continue challenging the Modi-fied Politics and Expose the Corruption of NCP

As the campaign for the 16th Lok Sabha draws to a closure today, the campaign witnessed tremendous response from wide range of people in the Mumbai North East constituency. This response and the large number

of issues emerging is also because of the failure of Corporator, MLAs and MP in discharging their duties as elected representatives. None of them taken any steps to curb the fundamental corruption involved in the projects. There has not been any attempt to policy making focussing amenities and housing. People’s response to our campaign was because of we raising these issues in the past years and because of their faith in our continuous work on those issues.

Out of my nearly 40 years of work, the 17 years I worked in Mumbai has given me an inside out knowledge about the basic issues of the constituency. This election is important for us, as we seek larger representation of people in decision making and to continue raise those issue with more strength and vigour. Hence we make a pledge to

implement all national level commitments by Aam Aadmi Party in its Manifesto and in the Mumbai Manifesto. Further, we issue a Mumbai North East specific prime issues pledging that we will leave no stone unturned to fulfil those. We also reiterate that all our efforts will be participatory, transparent and accountable, involving the people of the constituency across the caste-class-creed-gender differences, and political ideologies.

Hence we appeal to the voters to join us in these efforts, with their strengths and commitment, to bring in change and make our city corruption free. We will achieve this together with participation of people from all walks of life, contribution of professional skills and inputs from experts.

Modi’s lies and threat to not just secular fabric, but even dalits, adivasis and downtrodden

In a rally addressed by Modi in Mumbai yesterday he said that "Maharshtra would get electricity worth Rs 400 crores for free if the project (Sardar Sarovar Narmada project) was completed." The blatant lie repeated for the second time in this election season is another attempt t to mislead the people. Maharashtra, which has also

sacrificed a few thousands crores of revenue, by submergence of 33 hilly adivasi villages, will lose 9500 ha of land, parts of it are forests, in the Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP). Additionally she spends Rs.3000 crores in proportion to the 27% of power from the project. SSP is an interstate project, with financial commitment by each of the party states. How can then the power be free to Maharashtra?

While Modi builds his campaign on lies and twisted facts, he poses a serious threat to the secular fabric of the country. By his silence isn’t Modi supporting Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) president Pravin Togadia’s communal venom in Bhavnagar by saying “evict Muslims from Hindu areas”?

His outlook towards the dalits and socially marginalised is evident from his reported statement sometime earlier where he, observed while releasing his book Samajik Samrasata, that dalits were like mentally retarded children. What an irony, somebody who does not respect the dalits and marginalised writes a book with its title Samajik Samrasata (Social Equity)!

Last year, The Gujarat High Court ordered the Gujarat government to strictly adhere to the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of) Forest Rights Act, 2006, and the rules framed thereafter under this central Act. The order came on a public interest litigation (PIL) by a group of NGOs, which said the state

government was violating the provisions of the Act in deciding the claims of tribals and had arbitrarily rejected more than one lakh such claims.

It will be a figment imagination, generated by aggressive advertisement that Modi with a proved track record for being anti poor, anti dalit, anti adivasi and minorities could lead the country which is built on the foundations of secularism, tolerance and respect to each other.

We will stand by dalits, who apart from asserting their identity and dignity, faces the challenge of getting the basic rights, as upheld in the Constitution, as envisioned by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. The positive discrimination and reservation will be implemented only when they stand united.

If Modi around, can NCP be far behind?

We will challenge the corrupt party NCP, who are involved in scams worth thousands of crores. Some of them include, irrigation scam, Gosikhurd canal scam, sugar factory scam, even the former Member of Parliament seem to have contributed to corrupt practices in using the MPLAD funds. By not raising the corruption issues in this Constituency, such as allotment of MHADA land, rehabilitation of slum dwellers and in infrastructure projects, he has permitted the corrupt practices.

He cannot shrug the responsibility of his inability to curb corruption, failure to address the fundamental issues of the constituency and not being around for the people when the people needed him most.

We will launch enquiries into all those allegations of corruption once the elections are over.

We appeal to all voters of the Constituency to come out in large numbers on the voting day, cast their vote and be a part of the democratic process. We appeal to the voters to cast their vote in favour of honesty, accountability and good governance and against corruption, communalism and injustice.

Conspiracy to try and trap AAP candidate, H.S. Phoolka

A letter written to Commissioner by Mr. Phoolka

Attached is the formal complaint made by Mr. H.S. Phoolka to the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana today. The details are provided therein. The phone number mentioned in the complaint has already been traced by the Police to a number in Gujarat, belonging to a prominent person in Gujarat. The name is not being disclosed due to pending investigation in the matter. The events clearly disclose the desperate attempt being made to try and trap Mr. Phoolka and affect his highly successful campaign.

Subject : Complaint of misrepresentation and impersonation as SSP, Ludhiana and cheating under section 420, 465, 468, 469

Sir,

            Yesterday on 09.04.2014 while I was in villages in Jagraon, I received a call on my Punjab number, 9779490070 from phone number 09662164374. The person on the other side disclosed his name as BK Singh, SSP Rural, Ludhiana. He said he wanted to talk about something very urgent. The line was not very clear so I called him back from my other number, 09811021916. The said person claimed that he is SSP Rural, Ludhiana and he needs an urgent favor from me. He said that his son has lost his luggage at Mumbai Railway Station and he urgently needs money. He said he would deliver me the money in Ludhiana and if I can ask someone in Mumbai to give the money to his son who is stranded in Mumbai. On humanitarian considerations, I will request my friend in Mumbai to take care of his son. He insisted on immediate delivery of Rs. 65,000 to me in Ludhiana. I told him that I was in the villages and not in the city. He insisted that I should give him the number of someone who he can deliver the money to. I told him that he shouldn’t worry about delivering the money, he should only send the contact details of his son in Mumbai and I will ask my friends in Mumbai to take care of him and to ensure that he is fine. He then sent me the following SMS :

“FULKA JI, MY SON NAME JASHBIR SINGH HIS MOBILE NO. 08980956476 HE IS AT MUMBAI CENTRAL R STATION FROM SSP BK SINGH IPS”

I requested my friends Manjeet Singh in Mumbai to help the young boy who is in desperation and I forwarded the message sent by BK Singh to him. When Manjeet Singh called on the number in the SMS, the phone was busy and the message on the phone came in Gujrati. Manjeet Singh immediately told me that this number is not of a person in Maharashtra and the message from the service provider is in Gujarati. Manjeet Singh again called on the number after some time and told the boy that he is coming to meet him at Mumbai Central Station, as mentioned in the message sent by BK Singh. The boy informed Manjeet Singh that he is not at Mumbai Central Station and gave a different location in Mumbai. Manjeet Singh called me and said that something is definitely fishy. I called back the said BK Singh and his number was coming busy and that message too was in a different language and  not in Punjabi or Hindi. I again tried calling him and asked where he is at that time. He informed me that he his sitting at DIG office at Lakkar wala Pul. That showed that this person is lying. I called DSP Dakha, and asked him if there is any SSP Rural by the name of BK Singh. He told me that there is none. Then I called Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana and asked him if there is any IPS officer by the name of BK Singh. He also confirmed that there is none. I narrated the incident and requested investigation in the matter as someone was purposely impersonating himself as SSP Ludhiana.

From the fact that the person was too keen to deliver the money to me and the amount was Rs. 65,000/- which is equal to $1,000, it appears that it was a trick to trap me and claim that I have received money through hawala. It clearly makes out a case of misrepresentation, cheating, impersonation and forgery intending to harm my reputation.

I am grateful to you for taking prompt action in the matter and finding the details of the phone which has already been traced to Gujarat. I am making this formal complaint in writing to help with the investigation of the case. I request you to take the matter to a logical conclusion at the earliest.

Roadshow of S. Phoolka turns into a big rally

Phoolka appealed to the people to vote without any fear

Led by Advocate HS Phoolka, workers of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today organized an impressive that began from Sarabha Nagar and passed through Barota road, Rehru Sahib road, Kuhara village, Isher Nagar, Sua road, Gill Bridge, Atam Nagar, Guru Nanak Colony, Block A, Karnail Singh Nagar, Dugri road, Block B, Rode phatak etc.

Large number of people turned out to participate in the road show. At many places, road show took the shape of big rallies. Residents of different localities welcomed the show and honoured Mr.Phoolka who is contesting Lok sabha polls from Ludhiana constituency.

Mr. Phoolka appealed to the people to vote without any fear. He stated that party in power was using unfair means and terrorising the voters, so people should teach a lesson to it and cast vote for AAP that is pro-people party. He promised that AAP government will wipe out the corruption and there would be rule of law everywhere.

He assured that Ludhiana would be developed in to a model city. All the residents will get all the amenities without any discrimination. In the road show large numbers of common people participated with their cycles, scooters and motorcycles.

MCI Election: Doctoer's Circle said this mockery of democracy

Unfair practices feared and suspected

Ludhiana: 4th April 2014: (Punjab Screen Bureau): 

A meeting of the Doctors’ circle was held where following resolution was passed regarding MCI Elections.

There is complete absence of spirit of democracy in the current MCI elections due to following reasons

1 The ballots are posted by ordinary posts and have not reached majority of voters, last date for ballots to reach back is 10th March so the postal delay to and fro is harming the election process.

2 It is feared and suspected that unfair practices are being carried out of collecting the ballots posted by ordinary post from the post offices and postmen.

3 The candidates are reported to be collecting the unfilled ballot papers from the voters by pressurizing them , this has taken out the important element of Secrecy from the process. When a candidate comes, sits in front face to face and demands that ballot paper be handed over to him it becomes very embarrassing for the voter to refuse a colleagues doctor.

4 Ballots are difficult to fill and require to be posted back by registered post so most of the doctors are either ignoring them or handing these over to the first candidate who approaches them.

Doctor’s Circle takes a serious note of this mockery of democracy for an important post which gives lot of power and responsibility to the elected person and demands that the elections be quashed and held again in a proper manner where the rights of the voting doctors be protected and a genuinely deserving person is elected without manipulation of votes. Doctors’ Circle condemns this mockery of democracy in educated doctor community which is expected to show the right path to the society.

Harjit Singh Adaltiwal joins AAP along with supporters

Leaving a major setback to the ruling Shrimoni Akali Dal (Badal), Harjit Singh Adaltiwal, senior Akali leader and Organizing Secretary SAD and Founder President of Kambojh Organisarion of India, today joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) along with hundreds of allies.

S. Adaltiwal had specifically requested for the presence of Mr. Phoolka, AAP candidate from Ludhiana at his joining. A Press conference was held at 11 am at Patiala attended by S. Adaltiwal, Mr. Phoolka and Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi, AAP candidate from Patiala. The AAP leaders termed the joining of Adaltiwal and his supporters as a clear sign of the increasing popularity of AAP among Punjabis.

S. Adaltiwal is also the former vice chairman of Punjab State Backward Classes Commission (PSBCC) and has organized many mega rallies for SAD. In addition, he has served SAD for 36 years.

Speaking to media persons, S. Adaltiwal said, “I have quit SAD (B) due to its anti Punjab policies and have now decided to become a part of the Aam Aadmi party. I will do his best to ensure the victory of AAP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.”

Phoolka Carried out a grand Public Meeting in Sherpur

Ludhiana, March 30, 2014: (Punjab Screen Bureau):

“The political leaders have corrupted the entire government structure of Punjab,due to which the  government employees do not function without bribes and recommendations of such influential personalities . We want freedom from this corrupt system and such politicos”, said Mr. Harvinder Singh Phoolka, at the grand public meeting held in Sherpur, 100 foot road, Ludhiana.

Addressing the thousands of people gathered in the meeting, Mr. Phoolka said “The honest officers are generally discriminated and corrupt officials are promoted to higher positions, by such political leaders. The main objective of any political party should be, providing quality education in government schools, proficient facilities in government health care centers and hospitals and protection to the common man. Till now, no minister has thought about these issues. While expressing his concern for the people of Punjab, Phoolka said “Due to lack of education, proper amenities in hospitals and police busy in providing protection to the VIPs, the society is in distress.”

Its a common belief among the corrupt politicians that they can win the elections on the basis of money and hooliganism. The common man can’t be fooled anymore. And they will prove it in these elections that money and alcohol cannot buy them the vote of the citizens of Punjab, but they will Vote, Support and Elect the right candidate.

Phoolka ensured the labor class which was in attendance in a huge number, that labour laws will be implemented efficiently and proficiently. Along with Mr. Phoolka and other party workers, Capt. Gurwinder Singh Kang, Col. JS Gill, Advocate Prabh Sahay Kaur Phoolka were also there.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organized an impressive road show in Ludhiana being led by AAP’s Lok Sabha candidate, H.S. Phoolka. The Rally was a scooter and cycle rally that was conducted in two laps starting from Sarabha Nagar to BRS Nagar, Sunet, Rajguru Nagar, Ferozpur Road, Octroi post, New Agar Nagar, Barrewal, Jain Colony in lap one and went on to Vardhman Sabji Mandi, Tajpur Chowky, Jalandhar Road, Tibbi Colony, Bhola Colony in the second one. The road show which was the major attraction for the city inspired many of the party volunteers and youngsters and elders who showed their support on their bikes and scooters.

The rally received a warm welcome in all the areas and AAP’s revolution for change was immensely acknowledged by Ludhianvis. Addressing the press and media, Phoolka said, “Unlike other parties this road show has not been organized to show the party strength but we have came to the streets to awake the masses to get them along and stand for change and stand against corruption. It is extremely vital now that Punjabis stand united if ever they want a corruption free governance in the state and AAP is providing the people that option now.” 

He went on to say, “It is still in our hands to improve conditions, and should we want a better liveable Punjab, we have a chance of that now. Youth of Punjab are forced to go abroad by any means possible, because of breakdown of the administrative system and unemployment. The youth in Punjab have been ruined by endless supply of drugs and liquor in the state and similar is the physical and mental health of a common Punjabi.”
