Police action on BJP camp–many arrested

Received from Hardev Singh on Sunday 24th August 2025 at 20:20 Regarding Police Action on BJP Workers

BJP activists also raised strong slogans

Chandigarh
: 24th August 2025: (Media Link Ravinder//Punjab Screen Desk)::

The Punjab government tried to crush the BJP camp set up near Kheda Temple in Mullanpur Bazar, New Chandigarh of Kharar Assembly with the help of police force. During this, the police also arrested many activists including Punjab BJP Vice President Dr. Subhash Sharma. Protesting the arrest, these BJP activists raised strong slogans and termed it as the dictatorship and hooliganism of the Aam Aadmi Party government.

Dr. Sharma, while making a sharp attack, said that the Aam Aadmi Party government has completely panicked. BJP workers are being prevented from going to villages across the state, police blockades have been put up on the roads. He said, “On one hand, Punjab is becoming a haven for gangsters, drugs are being sold openly, but the Mann government is turning a blind eye to these serious issues. On the contrary, it is afraid of the peaceful social welfare camps of BJP workers.”

Dr. Sharma, taking a dig at former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, said that the Mann government is following the path of “Sama, Dam, Danda, Bheed” as he had said. He made it clear that BJP workers are neither going to stop nor bow down under pressure. Many workers have also been injured due to the police’s lathi-charge action.

He said that it is surprising that the AAP government itself sets up camps in different places and calls it democracy, but when the BJP gives information about the schemes to the public, it is stopped by calling it 'data theft'.

“This is proof of the government's desperation and the growing public support for the BJP. It is clear that the Mann government has lost ground and is afraid of the growing power of the BJP.”

Jakhar reached flood victims before the coronation

 Monday 10th July 2023 at 5:26 PM

Jakhar Reached flood victims to know ground zero reality

*Before officially taking over It was act to come more close the peolples

*BJP workers asked to make every possible effort to help the flood affected people

Mohali: 10th July 2023: (Kartika Singh//Punjab Screen Desk)::

The incessant rain was not taking the name of stopping. There was water like canals in every street. In such a situation, an media message came that the newly appointed BJP state president is reaching Chandigarh a day before his coronation, but this sudden visit is to know the flood victims of Kharar area. The aim was to reach out to those people who were sold expensive houses, cottages and flats by building residential enclaves on the land on the river.

These people are now feeling cheated. The houses built with their lifetime's earnings were washed away in the surge that came with the very first hit of rain. When its time came, the river showed its formidable form with anger to those who occupied its land.

The victims of the Panchwati  Enclave Kharar were also angry and sad. Senior BJP leader and former MP Sunil Jakhar, who entered the fray even before assuming the post of state BJP president, visited the flood-affected areas of Kharar on Monday and took stock of the situation. He went deep into the Kharar and reached those areas which were completely inundated and the threat was constant.

He warned the Punjab government to be prepared for the worst also becauset the rains were unrelenting and the situation was becoming increasingly critical in some areas. Sunil Jakhar urged the state government to provide all possible help to the needy. Appealing to ensure that lakhs of our people are suffering due to incessant rains in the state and many of them are in danger of losing their lives.

The state government should be serious. He said that many districts of Punjab are facing heavy losses due to floods. In such a situation, it is the duty of all of us to stand with the flood affected families and do everything possible to deal with this situation. Zakhar listened very carefully to every sorrow of the people. Saw their devastation very closely by meeting them. The people around him looked very eager to see him. Perhaps for the first time someone has understood his sorrow.

On this occasion, Jakhar requested the administration to immediately implement the evacuation plan and ration scheme to take the people trapped in the water to safe places in case of heavy rains in the coming days.

He said that it is necessary to ensure timely evacuation and make advance arrangements for the stay of the people. The routine life of common people seemed to be in complete disarray. On their expectations, fire water had discolored their every color. Jakhar, who reached out to him in this hour of grief and sorrow, said that the people of Kharar have expressed fear of losing their houses and valuables as the administration has issued vebal notices to them to vacate their houses in low-lying areas.

The safety of their life and property should be ensured till the situation returns to normal. He said that this is not the time for fault-finding and it is important that everyone comes together to ensure the safety of the people.

The senior BJP leader called upon all political parties to protect their people in view of this grave situation. If it is not dealt with properly now, then this tragedy will cause huge loss to the people of our state. Taking a serious note of the crisis, Jakhar said that this is the time to be vigilant and face any crisis with full preparedness. It's time to be ready. There should be no laxity in this. Jakhar urged the BJP leaders and workers to coordinate with the local authorities and make every effort to extend all possible help to the needy.

Senior leaders Balbir Singh Sidhu, Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Arvind Khanna, State Secretary Parminder Brar, District President Sanjeev Vashisht, Kamal Saini etc. were also present with Jakhar during his visit to the flood affected area. BJP's state spokesperson Anil Sareen had specially arrived from Ludhiana in his convoy. Mr. Jakhar's convoy stopped among these people for about an hour and after a brief meeting with the media, left to see other flood affected areas.

An interaction with Aman Sinha- A senior advocate

Fri, Feb 23, 2018 at 3:04 PM
Aman Sinha is BJP’s National Spokesperson also
Ludhiana: 22nd February 2018: (Parminder Kaur//Punjab Screen)::
“Transformational Leadership, from Govt. Programs to Peoples Movement”,  is how Aman Sinha, BJP’s National Spokesperson and senior advocate (Supreme Court Of India) during an interaction at Ludhiana Management Association would like the Narendra Modi Government to be judged. Sinha highlighted the achievements of Modi government in 3.5 years period in terms of ensuring that India remains as one of the fastest growing economy, controlled inflation, reduction of fiscal deficit, high FDI inflows and burgeoning FOREX reserves. He added that these 3.5 years are historic and appreciable.
Sinha also maintained that the government has been able to infuse optimism and hope to the society and this is primarily due to the vision, conviction and courage of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who leads from the front. He also asserted that the nation occupies a strategic position in the global arena, and the nation has also emphatically signalled, that it will neither compromise with terrorism or national sovereignty whatever may be the cost, which is really remarkable. Aman Sinha also shared numbers to validate the efforts put in the areas of rural electrification, ease of doing business and disbursal of loans to entrepreneurs. Sinha also submitted that, this had been achieved only due to the support and enthusiasm of 125 crore Indians who have decided to stand along with the PM as he takes bold initiatives to transform our economy, polity and society.
However Sinha was candid in admitting that there were execution and implementation gaffes during demonetisation and rollout of GST, but perhaps due to the size of our economy and secrecy to be maintained and the gigantic task were not fully factored at the time of decision. He assured that government would deliver on its promise of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas by 2022, and the ensuing election in 2018 would not be a deterrent on the path of bold and transformational decision making.
Members of LMA raised questions about the execution, maintaining that there was a big gap between the policy making and its implementation, and this was resulting in confusion, delays and losses. While the business community supports reforms, they should be calibrated to bring about seamless change,   and not imperil the very existence of business units. Members opined that it is important for the PM and the government to Walk the Talk and also encourage participative leadership.
Prasoon Sharma, South Asia Head , ZTE Soft while interacting with the members, explained how the Government Programs like Start Up India, were facilitating entrepreneurship. He also showcased Nasofilters, a low cost product, developed by IIT graduates for combating Air Pollution in our society.
President LMA Kamal Wadhera while proposing the Vote of Thanks complimented Mr. Aman Sinha on his spirited defense of the Modi Govt. He also hoped that Sinha would share the concerns of citizens and especially those of the business community, as patchy implementation would only lead to confusion, delays, losses and these would deter economic growth, which is the prime agenda of the government.

CPI has condemned govt's decision to allow 100% FDI

Thu, Jan 11, 2018 at 4:41 PM
It will more increase the employement
Ludhiana: 11th January 2018: (Punjab Screen Bureau)::
The Communist Party of India (CPI) has condemned government's decision to allow 100% FDI in single brand retail . In a statement the party said that it will lead to job displacement and will in no way help country's economic growth. Single brand retail products are used by hardly 2-5% of population. Large chunk of the money flow is used in merger and other things while real investment is very low. This will  also affect our small traders. As admitted by the government that GDP will come down to 6.5% there is likelihood of loss of obs. In the event of job loss there is apprehension that there may not be sufficient buying capacity with the people.  The government should concentrate on increasing employment in small scale sector for improving economy at the ground level. It is pertinent to note that the BJP had vehemently opposed the FDI in retail when it was not in power few years back.

When people become unemployed, they will not have any jobs, then the purchasing power of the people will also fall further. The oppressed people of capitalism will have to face new troubles once again. Thus, does this decision lead to the risk of new slavery?
CPI Local Leaders Dr. Arun Mitra, Comrade Kartar Singh Buani, Comrade Ramesh Rattan, Comrade Gurnam Singh Sidhu, Comrade Vijay Kumar and others expressed regret that this is being done by the party whose leaders have opposed the even 50% FDI. Agitations were launched against the FDI. Protests were also done on roads. When the same leaders came to power now, 100 percent of the FDI is justifying it as a big gift to India.
This decision has been proved by the government that the which party running this government is like an elephant whose teeth have different teeth to eat and the tooth to show. The party said that the government should focus on increasing the employment of small-scale sector for economic reform at the grassroots level. With the loud emphasis on the slogan of the indigenous Swadeshi Party, what is the principle now that foreign companies are coming to the country and inviting the people of the country to grab everything?
The party also invited organizations such as Kendra and Swadeshi of the party that they now question the leaders of this party in public places and answer their questions.

SAD-Badal must take lessons from Haryana results

Tue, Oct 21, 2014 at 11:01 PM
BJP has emerged stronger-Grewal
New Delhi: October 21, 2014: (Punjab Screen Bureau)

National Secretary BJP Kisan Morcha and Prabhari Himachal Pradesh Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that the Shiromani Akali Dal , Badal must take lessons from the poll outcome in Haryana. He said the SAD , Badal should know that its experiment of having a coalition with other parties had failed to bring any harm to Bharatiya Janata Party. Grewal said that BJP has emerged stronger despite their opposition, our alliance partner must understand that it has failed to make any difference in Haryana. Advising to the SAD to re-think it's strategy, Grewal said the SAD claimed that the INLD was its long-term partner. Grewal said but it’s against the coalition Dharma of the NDA. The poll outcome of Haryana is expected to leave strong bearings on ruling alliance of Punjab. Shiromani Akali Dal, Badal leaders proactively campaigned in favour INLD candidates against their Punjab ally BJP candidates during Haryana elections. The assembly election results will make BJP more assertive in Punjab where it has a coalition Government with the Shiromani Akali Dal, Badal. For last few decades the BJP was acting as a junior partner in Punjab but after land sliding victory in Lok Sabha elections, followed by massive success in Haryana and Maharashtra assembly elections, the political out fit seem to be in mood of throwing away the junior partner jacket. The analysts suspect that the BJP may not be interested in triggering break up with immediate effect but it might decide to contest 2017, the state assembly elections alone in Punjab.

H. S Phoolka's reaction on statement by Harsimrit Kaur Badal

 Wed, May 28, 2014 at 4:11 PM
84 RIOTS: STATEMENT OF CABINET MINISTER IN MODI GOVERNEMNT
Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal taking charge as the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries on May 27, 2014.
श्रीमती हरसिमरत कौर बादल 27 मई, 2014 को नई दिल्ली में केन्‍द्रीय खाद्य प्रसंस्‍करण उद्योग मंत्री के रूप में कार्यभार संभालते हुए
The statement of Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Cabinet Minister, that Modi Government would implement the Report of Nanavati Commission to punish the guilty, is highly surprising.

Nanavati Commission submitted its report in February 2005 and was tabled in the Parliament on August 8, 2005.
Courtesy Photo
In this Report, Nanavati Commission had recommended registration of only 4 cases which are against Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler. All these 4 cases were registered and investigated by the CBI. Nanavati mentioned in his report that 241 cases are closed by Police and were never sent for trial to Courts. But, unfortunately it recommended reopening of only 4 cases. Other 237 cases, Nanavati never recommended to be reopened. Justice could only be done and the guilty could be punished if these 237 cases are reopened. For this purpose Kejriwal government had constituted SIT to reopen and reinvestigate these 237 cases which are closed by Police and never sent for trial. The SIT has not been made functional yet. The Modi government should immediately make the SIT functional and get these 237 cases reinvestigated.

Sessions Judge rejecting the closure report of CBI and reopening the case. His appeal is listed on May 29, 2014 in Delhi High Court.

Mr. H.S Phoolka, Senior Advocate is representing the victims.

For rehabilitation, Prime Minister Package was declared in January 2006. This has not been completely implemented. This Package included giving jobs in each family of victims. Modi government should implement this package and provide job to the victims.

Grewal lashed out at Punjab State Power Corporation Limited

Tue, Jan 28, 2014 at 4:29 PM
Several business houses are keen to invest in Punjab
Now we have to check PSPCL for providing poor services
Ludhiana : 28 Jan 2014: (Rector Kathuria//Punjab Screen):
National BJP Leader and Punjab Small Industry and Export Corporation (PSIEC) Former Vice Chairman, Advocate Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that our SAD-BJP Government has made several efforts to boost the industrial sector in Punjab state. Grewal said that due to these efforts of SAD-BJP Government as result several business houses are keen to invest in our Punjab. He said that now we have to check Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) which is providing poor services to the Consumers in Punjab. Talking with the Media persons here today Grewal lashed out at Punjab State Power Corporation Limited for poor consumer services and absolute non-adherence of Standards of  Performance mandated by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC)  appointed by Government of Punjab. Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) has specified critical distribution parameters to provide efficient, reliable and safe system of Electricity through its regulations provided in its Supply Code. These Minimum Standards of Performance provides strict timelines to resolve various Consumer grievances viz. Normal Fuse Off, Overhead Line Breakdowns, Underground Cable Breakdowns, Distribution Transformer Failure, Power Transformer Failure, Street Light Faults, Period of Scheduled Outage, Voltage Fluctuations, Meter Complaints, Release of New Connection, Transfer of Title or Conversion of Services, Shifting of Meter/Service Connection and other Services, Complaints about Consumer’s Bills and restoration of Supply.
Grewal stated that Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) mandates a compensation to the Consumer in case of non-fulfillment of these Minimum Standards of Performance. Compensation varies from Rs 50/- to Rs 5000/- for each default for each Consumer. It is well known that Punjab State Power Corporation Limited neither fulfils these Minimum Standard of performance ( MSOP ) nor compensates any Consumer towards any such lapse whereas Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) mandates payment of such compensation by the way of adjustment in Electricity Bills. For instance, Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) mandates a normal fuse off complaint shall be addressed within 4 hours in cities, towns and urban areas and in case Punjab State Power Corporation Limited ( PSPCL ) fails to resolve the complaint within 4 hours, it shall remit Rs 50/- as compensation by the way of adjustment in the next bill of the Consumer.
Grewal added that Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) mandates registration of each and every complaint filed by the Consumer verbally, telephonically or in writing as per a duly approved Consumer Complaint Handling Procedure whereas there is hardly any such effective system in place to register and address consumer complaints. “According to the Annual Revenue Requirement ( ARR ) filed by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited ( PSPCL ) with the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ), it received only 2462 complaints in a year from over 65 Lac Consumers across Punjab whereas on an average more than 10000 complaints are received daily by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited which clearly means Punjab State Power Corporation Limited ( PSPCL ) had fudged Annual Revenue Requirement ( ARR ) figures to avoid compensation and save itself from the wrath of Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) ”, added Grewal.
Grewal stated that he will write to Shri Shanta Kumar MP ( Rajya Sabha ) Prabhari Punjab Pradesh,  Shri Shyam Jhaju National BJP Secretary and Seh-Prabhari Punjab, Sr Sukhbir Singh Badal President Shiromani Akali Dal ( SAD ), Deputy Chief Minister and Power Minister Punjab, Shri Kamal Sharma Punjab State President Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ), Shri Tikshan Sud Political Advisor to CM Punjab and also to Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) to pass strict instructions to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited ( PSPCL ) to ensure registration of each and every complaint and its quick resolution, adhere to the Minimum Standard of performance ( MSOP ) as mandated by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) and  compensate each and every Consumer in case of any failure on its part.

In a press statement here today, he said that our Gujarat model out shines the Delhi Hotline. He said that the State of Gujarat Government SWAGAT online Grievance Redressal System has been in place since the year 2003.  Grewal stated that Gujarat Governments three tier system has worked successfully in the state at Taluka, District and State level. He said that this scheme of our Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has also won the United Nations Public Service Award in 2010. Grewal said that about this AWARD was conferred by UN Under Secretary General for Economic and Social Affairs Mr Sha Zukang on 23rd June 2010 at United Nations in New York. He stated that under the SWAGAT scheme Grievances are logged in the system, transmitted and made online to officers concerned and who have to reply within 3 to 4 hours daily. Grewal stated that all these complaints are monitored by the Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narendra Modi. He said that Complaints are reviewed online in the presence of the complainant, Collector, District Development Officers, Superintendent of Police and other officials of Gujarat Government. He said that no applicant has ever been left out without any firm reply or response to his or her grievance. He said that the entire process relies on the Gujarat State Wide Network GSWAN and it connects with all 25 District and 225 Taluka Headquarters in the state. He said that the 92.45% excellent track record of this scheme in Gujarat is a prime example of Good Governance by our BJP Ruled States in India. Grewal said on the other hand Delhi Government Anti Corruption Hotline and so called public Delhi Janata Darbar had failed. He said that these are mere publicity stunts and lack of experience to Govern for AAP. Grewal said that it's reliant on the clutches of the Congress party, whom Aam Aadmi Party Leader Arvind Kejriwal had termed as the most corrupt party of the decade in India. He said that now Arvind Kejriwal is in power with the help of same Congress Party whom it dubs as the most Corrupt Party in India.

Poorest people kept out of water subsidy ?

Thu, Jan 2, 2014 at 11:03 AM
It's Drama of AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal-Grewal
New Delhi ( Sarojani Park ): 2 Jan 2014: (Punjab screen Bureau):
National Secretary BJP Kisan Morcha and Prabhari Himachal Pradesh Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that It's a Drama of AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal, he kept poorest out of water subsidy scheme in Delhi. In a press statement here today, he said that the subsidy ignores weakest families and includes only a small layer of people with metered consumption. He said that that's are unquantified amount given to unidentifiable section of people weaker category. Grewal clear that only through this subsidy Delhi Government not cut down the rates or the cost, it's only uses the tax payers money to subsidise only a section. He stated that a subsidy may prove counter productive for more vulnerable section people. He said that taken illustration of the scheme to subsidise water for those consuming less than twenty kilo's litre water through a metered system. He said that the real challenge is that those outside the water supply system must be connected to it. Grewal stated that laying down the pipelines in every locality of Delhi, installation of taps in every house can only be provided by a healthy board and not a financially vulnerable Delhi Jal Board. He said that area without a pipeline, households without a tap, households without a meter, households with defective meters are not entitled to any subsidy. He stated that the household in the NDMC area those who lesser paid employees, households in Delhi Cantonment area have all been kept out of the water subsidy of AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal. He said that it is well known that Delhi has about eighteen lakh's water connections and in which eight point five lakh have functional meters only. He said it is also well known that about five lakh's meters are non functional, defective and rest are un metered. Grewal stated that in Delhi large number of jughi's have no water connection and are not covered by the free water scheme, so they are reliant only on water tankers in that Area. He said that in Delhi there are large number of unauthorized colonies have no pipelines and are yet to be covered by laying of water pipelines also. Grewal said it is clear that some of Delhi's middle class whose connections are metered and who keep their consumption below twenty kilo litre or six hundred sixty six litre's per day alone are entitled to the free water scheme. He said that it is also well known that people whose consumption exceeds twenty kilo litre mark would be charged for the entire consumption with a hike of 10% in tariff by Arvind Kejriwal's Delhi Government. Grewal said that it is simple and clear that Arvind Kejriwal dived Delhi into four categories. He said that is those who have no taps or pipeline connections, so are outside the scheme. Next one are those with defective or no meters would also be outside the scheme and paying for water in Delhi. He said next are only those with functional meters and consuming below twenty kilo litres per month who get the benefit. Grewal said that the last one's are those which are with functional meters who consume above then twenty kilo litres would pay 10% extra to Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal's Government. He said that it is clear the scope of the benefit of people of Delhi has narrowed down to just some of the households falling in one of four categories of Delhi. Grewal again said that It's only a Drama of AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal, it is true that he kept poorest out of water subsidy scheme after sometime people of Delhi know this reality.
