Shri Gyan Sathal Mandir:206th ration distribution function held

Shri Gyan Sthal Mandir and Lala Jagat Narayan Nishkam Sewa Sangh organised its 206th ration distribution function here today. During this function, monthly ration and quilts were distributed to more than 700 needy widows at Shri Gyan Sthal Temple here this morning. Mr Balramji Dass Tandon, Hon'ble Governor of Chhattisgarh, was the chief guest on the occasion.

Besides providing 51 items of ration to the widows, it also provided text books, exercise books to hundreds of needy schoolchildren. A truck full of quilts was also flagged off for flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir and Mr Ratan Lal Garg donated Rs 21,000 for this purpose.

Addressing the function, Mr Balramji Dass Tandon said that the mandir trust under the able leadership of its president Mr Jagdish Bajaj was carrying out excellent services for the suffering and needy humanity. He said that responding to the great services of Jagdish Bajaj, a large number of philanthropists were coming forward every month with liberal the contributions. He assured all kind of assistance for this cause of humanity.

"A common phrase of English language says 'Hands that serve are much holier than the lips that pray' and serving the humanity is the holiest thing one can do," he said.

Jagdish Bajaj, President, Sri Giyan Mandir Trust, said that for the last two decades, the Trust was conducting monthly function to provide assistance to needy women, books to poor students and training to poor girls. 

Mr Vijay Kumar Chopra, editor-in-chief, Hind Samachar Group, was also present on the occasion. Prominent among those present during the function included Sunita Aggarwal, Senior Deputy Mayor, Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, office bearers of several social organisations, district administration and police officials, besides leaders from different political parties.

GCG: Youth and Heritage Festival-2014

About 1000 girls are participating in event

Panjab University, Chandigarh Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival started today at Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana. Total eleven girls colleges are participating in this youth festival. Near about 1000 girls are participating in various items, like Shabad, Bhajan, Lok Geet, Giddha, Mime, Drama, Creative Writing, Classical Dance, Group Dance, Folk Instrumental, Folk Orchestra, Fine Arts, Mehandi, Pakhi Making, Elocution, Debate, Quiz, Spot Photography and many other artistic items. S. Mahesinder Singh Grewal Ji, inaugurated the youth festival. Principal of the college Mrs. Gurminder Kaur welcomed the chief guest. S. Mahesinder Singh Grewal lighted the “Shamaa” along with Dr. Nirmal Jaura. Addressing the audience he said, “College life is the best part of life and all my memorable days belong to it. He also mentioned that there are many weaknesses in the society and blame game played by the citizens of society; they effect the lives of politicians. Politicians became the main victims of it. We try to give equality to girls in the society but we lack behind when we try to give it a practical shape. He mentioned that girls are not far behind now, thee are total nine lady judges in Punjab and Haryana Court. There is no substitute to hard work but one should have patience and tolerance power in it. One should be loyal and respectful to his parents. Without blessings of the Almighty and parents one should not succeed in his life. I am standing here all because of my parents. I dedicated all my success to God and my parents. He said that Govt. College for Women is the best college of Punjab.

In the evening session, S. Sikander Singh Maluka was the chief guest. While addressing he appreciated the efforts of the college principal for good results. Education plays an important role in a life of men and women. It is very strange that girls are getting more positions in the university. It is the need of the hour to improve the education system in Punjab. I appreciate the efforts of the private sector in the development of education in the state. He said drugs are very dangerous for the young generation of the state. We should start campaining against the evils of drugs otherwise the younger generation of the Punjab will be ruined. I also appreciate that this college is making serious efforts in the misuse of drugs. I will try to give more grants to this college for the development of infrastructure and further he said that in future I will also make efforts for the air condition of the auditorium.

Farewell party at Shree Atam Vallabh Jain College

The canvas of Shree Atam Vallabh Jain College, Ludhiana was painted with different hues of merrymaking, reminiscence and anticipation of future as the juniors bade farewell to their seniors. The cultural bonanza comprised songs, dances, fun games, choreography and the most coveted event ‘modeling’. Miss Angel Sharma was crowned as Miss Farewell and Mr. Gursharan Singh was adjudged as Mr. Farewell, whereas Miss Gayatri Kashyap and Mr. Nishant Bakhu bagged the title of Miss and Mr. Runner up. The function was presided over by Sh. Ashwani Jain (President of the college managing committee) and Dr.Janmit Singh (Principal of the college). Principal of the college, Dr. Janmit Singh congratulated the winners and lauded the efforts of the staff and students.

Annual Prize Distribution Function at MTSM College

400 students were awarded for their achievements

Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women gave yet another reason to its students to cheer-up as the most awaited Annual Prize Distribution Function was just celebrated with great favour. S.Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria (Mayor Municipal Corporation,Ludhiana) was the chief Guest of the occasion. Dr.Satish Kumar Verma, former Head, Dept.Of Sports Science Punjabi University Patiala was the guest of honor whereas Dr. D.P. Bhatnagar, former Head Dept. of Human  Biology,Punjabi University Patiala was the special guest of the occasion. College principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Parveen Kaur Chawla along with the members of the college managing committee gave a floral welcome to the worthy guests.
The function initiated with the recitation of the shabad "Deh Shiva Var Mohe Ehe". As many as 400 students were awarded for their achievements in the fields of academics, cultural as well as sports. Jasmeen Akhtar, Megha Jain, Karishma Sharma and Gurpreet Kaur were awarded appreciation awards for their all-round performance whereas 12 students got Merit Certificate for their excellent achievements in various fields.The students sat riveted to get prizes from this high dignitary . While addressing the students, honorable guest congratulated them and inspired them to walk through the path of life with full courage, devotion and dedication. He further appariciated the hard toil of madam principal and all the staff members for achieving such brilliant results and position in university.
The whole ambience showered the fragrance of success and gaiety  with musical items. S. Swaran Singh, president, college managing committee presented a note of thanks to the worthy guests for sparing their precious time. While congratulating the students, he inspired them to attain great heights with courage, honesty and hard work and ofcourse with faith on the almighty.
Madam principal congratulated the students for their brilliant performances and also lauded the efforts of the teachers for bringing such outstanding results. She motivated all the winners to keep up the same spirit in future too and advised other students to come forward and enter the competition. She further iterated that "hardwork is the key to success and without hard work and dedication one can't reach zenith of glory". The function ended on festive note for prize winners and prizes in hands and faces illuminated with smiles of success.

College of Fisheries, GADVASU: Prize Distribution Function

Ms. Gulgul Singh: ‘Best Student of the Year Award’
Ludhiana-06-December, 2013: (Rector Kathuria//Punjab Screen): Annual prize distribution function was organized at College of Fisheries,COF, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University to recognize academic and co-curricular achievements of the students for the academic year 2012-13. Students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th year B. F. Sc. degree programme , who secured highest marks and high percentage of attendance at the end of their 2nd, 4th & 6th Semester, respectively were awarded with cash prize and a certificate of honour. Students were also facilitated for the laurels they brought to the college in various inter-college and inter-varsity NSS, cultural and sports activities. Amongst the B.F.Sc. Students, Ms. Gulgul Singh (B. F. Sc. II year) was crowned with the ‘Best Student of the Year Award’ (2012-13) owing to her outstanding achievements in academic and various cultural as well as sport events organized at university and state level. The significant contributions made by other workers of the college were also acknowledged. Mr. Gurmeet Singh (Senior Research Fellow) was facilitated for his dedicated service in the college. Among the contractual non-teaching staff, Ms. Manjinder Kaur, Mr. Ram Kumar and Mr. Kamaldeep Singh were also awarded for the significant contributions made by them in the progress of the college. Addressing the students and the staff of the college, Dr. (Mrs.) Asha Dhawan, Dean, COF congratulated all the award winners and encourage the students to come forward and excel in the field of co-curricular activities besides academics. She also acknowledged the collective team efforts made by the teaching and non-teaching staff in the laudable progress witnessed in the development of the college, since its establishment in 2008. She further expressed her willingness to see many more faces to be awarded in the coming years for their remarkable contributions and achievements.
