Health Minister Released Special Edition of Punarjot

A leading NGO of northern India in field of eye banking, Punarjot Eye Bank Society (Regd) of Ludhiana May-June edition of monthly magazine Punarjot Guldasta was released by Hon’able health minister Brahm Mohindra released at Ludhiana.

Brahm Mohindra appreciated the Punarjot Eye Bank Society for eye donation work.

Dr Ramesh MD eye, medical director of Punarjot eye bank and chief editor of Punarjot Guldasta said on the occasion that we are working for eye banking from last 26 years as pioneer in Punjab, till date we have procured more than 6700 donated corneas which are highest in northern India. We are also providing total free of cost corneal transplantation to all needy corneal blinds.  We are publishing monthly magazine Punarjot Guldasta as part of eye donation, health education promotion and social awareness to sensitise the public.

This special edition is focused on the contribution of eye donors, Families, social workers, doctors, NGOs and govt for noble cause of eye donation movement.

Vimal Sumbly press secretary to CM lauded the role of Punarjot eye bank society.

Dr Tejinder Pal Singh, chairman, Council of Homeopathic system of medicine Punjab appreciated the work-done by Punarjot Eye Society.

Dr. R. Vatsyayan and Dr. Gauhar Vatsyayan of Sanjivini Ayurved shalla of Civil Lines were also present on the occasion.

We shared the success story of Punarjot eye donation movement of Punjab at let's talk cornea national conference of CAMBA cornea Andhatav mukt Bharat Abhiyan under the aegis of Saksham NGO of  Madhav netripedhi of Nagpur for blindness free India campaign at Manekshaw convention center, Delhi Cantonment.
 
In power presentation, A struggle story of Punarjot eye donation, collection of highest collection of donated eyes in NGO sector, providing free corneal transplantation to all, free training of eye banking staff, was appreciated by corneal surgeons and eye banking social personalities from all northern states of India  and  it will help in movement of corneal blindness backlog free India campaign l.

National Doctor Day Celebrated at Punarjote

Punarjot eye bank society honoured Dr Renu chhatwal civil surgeon for helping the noble cause of eye donation as district chief on the eve of National Doctor day. Token of appreciation was given by  Sh. Hussan lal IAS managing director Punjab health system corporation who on visit in city. He said on the occasion that National Doctors day in India is a big awareness campaign offering great opportunities to all to get aware about the roles, importance and responsibilities of the doctors as well as promote medical professionals to come closer and follow the responsibilities of their profession very dedicatedly.

Dr Gurjeet singh MD (medicine) AIIMS, Guru Nanak hospital ,Bhikhi, Rara sahib selected under category of rural/ slum area service award who is providing his professional services in village from last 2 and 1/2 years opting work in rural area in spite post gradation from country,s premium institution AIIMS new Delhi.         

Dr Kulwant singh MD president IMA also honoured for contribution of city doctors for eye donation. Dr Manoj Sobti past president IMA and Dr Sukhjiwan kakkar SMO civil hospital Ludhiana also greeted for doctor day.

Free Eye Check Up Camp series by SBP

State Bank of Patiala organised Free Eye Check Up Camp at Ludhiana in collaboration with VISION SANKARA for four days. The Eye Camp was inaugurated by Shri Rajeev K. Sharma, Deputy General Manager, State Bank of Patiala, Ludhiana Zone today at Civil Lines, Opp. Old Dayanand Hospital, Ludhiana. Sh. Sharma said that such camp will be organised at four different

branches of State Bank of Patiala in the City of Ludhiana on four different days. The Second Camp on 28'h April 2015 at Haibowal, Adjoining Toor Hospital, Third Camp on29'h April 2015 at Dugri Road Branch and Fourth Camp on 30'h April 2015 at Pakhowal Road Br. Passi Chowk, Ludhiana, will be organised. Mr. Sharma further said that State Bank of Patiala is continuously trying to serve the society and its motive is not only to open the branches and earn profit. 
In today's life style, it is very necessary to be conscious about our health. Eyes are very important part of our body. A person who is not able to see only knows its importance. So, we should get our eyes regularly checked up. On various occasions, State Bank of Patiala is organising such types of programmes and in future also these will be organised regularly.
On this occasion, Sh. Sharma briefed about many attractive deposit and loan schemes launched by the Bank in people's interest. The Bank is developing in all spheres and is planning to expand further in future. We will welcome any suggestion from you to improve the working of the Bank.
Sh. Sharma thanked all for their cooperation and support for the development of the Bank.

AAROHAN: Eye Donation Awareness Campaign

70 people have taken pledge 
Ludhiana: 29 April 2014: (Punjab Screen Bureau): 
Jyotsana Dhingra, with few of her friends (Parminder Kaur, Gopi, Deepika Dhingra, Kartar Singh, Bikram Singh, Karan Narula) made a voluntary group named AAROHAN. We organised five days eye donation awareness campaign from 24th april to 28th april with the help of DMC&H in the city. We've covered Rakh Baag, PAU, Gurudwara Shaheedan Pheruman and Rose garden.
In the campaign, we make the people aware about Eye Donation, cleared their Myths and provided EYE DONOR CARDs to the willing people on behalf of their pledge.
Till now, 70 people have taken pledge and we made hundreds of people aware regarding this.

NRI established an eye clinic in memory of mother

In this world everybody think about himself but there are some people who care about the humanity.   Mr Harjinder Singh Gill a NRI from USA, a resident of village Rania, Sangrur road, Ludhiana is one of them who established Guru Nanak Charitable Eye Clinic in the memories of his mother late Smt. Bhagwan Kaur. Mr. Gill told that how he made the mind to establish this clinic on guidelines he learned from his mother. Mr. Gill finance this clinic and his cousin Mr Man Singh Gill a Retired Professor from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Ludhiana construct the clinic and will be managed by him. Brigadier M S Gujral CEO, Sankara Eye Hospital, Moga road , Ludhiana inaugurated the clinic. In this remarks Mr Gujral assures all support to this clinic because it associates with Sankara Eye Hospital. The preliminary chek-up will be done at the clinic and patients will be operated at Hospital. The facilities like eye testing with computer, eye sight testing and first aid will be available. Dr J S Bhatti, Prof & Head, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University was the special Guest. He appreciated the efforts of Gill family for the people of their village and adjoining area. The sarpanch of Rania Mr. Charanjit Singh thanks the Gill family for establishing of eye clinic in the village and guests and people present at the occasion. Mr Man Singh announce at the first eye check-up camp will be organized on 26th Jan 2014 and request the people to come for check-up.

Rally on Eye Donation

Ludhiana:14 September 2013:(Rachhpal Singh//Jatinder Pamal//Punjab Screen): JCI Ludhiana City organized a Mass Rally by students on Eye Donation on 14th September in the prominent areas of Model Town. The purpose of the rally was to generate awareness among the general public about Donation of Eyes. More than 500 Students of R.S. Model took part in this rally carrying banners and raising slogans in favour of eye donation. The rally was organized in association with PunarJot Eye Bank Society under the leadership of Dr. Ramesh.
          
Deputy Mayor of Ludhiana, Shri R.D. Sharma was the Chief Guest of the occasion and flagged off the rally. He said that people need to develop a mindset to pledge their eyes and motivate others to do the same. Dr. Ramesh, while addressing the gathering, laid emphasis on the benefits of eye donation to the society and motivated students to pledge their eyes so that more and more people could benefit from this noble act. Speaking on the occasion, president of JCI Ludhiana City, JC Deepak Gupta informed that this is part of JCI Ludhiana City’s endeavour to generate eye donation awareness. During this campaign, they have already inaugurated a Permanent Eye Donation –cum- information centre at Singh Optics, Middah Chowk, Ludhiana. Also present on the occasion were Principal of R.S. National Eye donation awareness fortnight celebrations

Ludhiana: 28 August 2013: (*Subhash Malik): Punarjot Eye Bank Society organised a very simple but impressive function to start National Eye Donation Awareness fortnight celebrations at Dr. Ramesh`s free eye hospital, Village Sehzad, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana by holding free eye and dental checkup and eye operation camp and seminar on eye donation.
Eye camp was inaugurated by 18 years young basketball player Satnam Singh 7 feet 2 inches rising star of our country who is presently having professional basketball training in IMG Reliance Basketball Sports Academy, Florida, USA and under scheme of special sports talent search programme to tap budding sports personalities to fame the name of our country.
The whole project of searching of sports talent of basket ball players among rural Punjab is being carried by s Teja Singh Dhaliwal secretary Punjab basket ball association who in instrumental in promotion of this project.s Harjinder Singh senior coach of basketball SAI also working hard to give coaching to players.

Satnam Singh along with his companion Harpreet Singh Palli lauded the eye donation cause for mankind and appealed the society to come forward for this noble cause. He also appealed youth to shun the drugs and alcohol in life and have good diet do good exercise and have good health.
On the occasion Dr. Ramesh also gave details of eye donation facts to audience and more than 27 persons pledged to donate their eye after death. Dr Ramesh himself also disclosed that he is also sports talent search lovers for new budding sports star individuals especially in rural area, he also worked in past with help of sports authority of India and sports academies of rural area of Punjab as motivator. This kind of promotion activities will promotes sports promotion as well as noble cause on eye donation among society to make healthy India.

At this occasion Mr. Subhash Malik, Secretary of Punarjot Eye Bank Society inform that our society has arrange 648 free eye checkup camps in which free eye examination of 205326 patients were conducted by Dr. Ramesh and his team alongwith 15728 free cataract and 2646 free corneal transplantation up to May 2013. Mr. Malik appealed to public, NGOs, religious and social organizations to come forward in this noble cause of eye donation for the eradication of corneal blindness of our country.

Punarjot organizes State Level function//Subhash Malik*

Mass Thanks Ceremony of 299  Eye Donors of 2012 
Punarjot Eye Bank Society organizes a State level special mass thanks ceremony of Eye Donors of 2012 at Merry Land Resort for giving gift of sight to corneal blinds.

Mr. Subhash Malik, Hon. Secretary of the society welcomed the chief guest Bhagat Chunni Lal, Hon.  Cabinet Minister, Medical Education & Research, Pb. and other guests came from different parts of Punjab. Mr. Malik give the details of work done by the society and thank the eye donor families to restore the vision of needy on selfless basis. He also told that our society is no.1 in collection and transplantation of cornea in Northern India.

At the occasion the chief guest, Bhagat Chunni Lal, Hon. Cabinet Minister, Medical Education & Research, Pb inaugurated the event by lightning Punarjot lamp and all candles were ignited from Punarjot lamp in sweet memory of all eye donors from almost whole of Punjab in 2012. Hon. Minister appreciated the work done by the society by giving the facility of free corneal transplantation and announced a grant of Rs. 2 lacs to the society for this noble cause of eye donation.

Dr. Ramesh, Medical Director of the society while thanking the chief guest told that Para-medical staff can play a vital role to spread the message of eye donation at the time grief to the family as most of the family forgets the eyes even the diseased have pledged during lifetime. Dr. Ramesh thanked the electronic and print media for their support in this noble cause. Dr. Ramesh thanked the eye donation families, motivators and different by different associates working in the eye donation movement in different parts of Punjab.

At this occasion students of college of Nursing DMCH & CMCH, Guru Teg Bahadur college of Nursing, Dr. Mohan Kaur institute of Nursing, Arvindoo College of commerce and Management and All Saints college of medical sciences participated in the Declamation, Skit and Rangoli competition on the theme of Eye Donation under the dynamic guidance of Dr. Ranbir Singh Sekhon. Dr. S.M. Bhatti, Principal, CMCH and Dr. G. S. Bajwa, HOD (Eye), DMC Ludhiana selected the winners of the competition.

The function was attended by Sh. R.K. Verma, commissioner and Sh. P.S. Bhullar, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Sh. Parveen Bansal, President BJP, Distt. Ludhiana, S. Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, counselor, S. Inderjit Singh Gill, owner of the resort, Dr. Subash Bansal, President, Optical association Punjab, Mohd. Sadique and Hakam Bakhtariwala renown singers.
